I knew the owner and knew he was thinking about selling it. One day there was a for sale sign in it's window so I went straight round with the cash as I knew it was in good condition but he was really lazy and it needed the carbs sorting and a damn good service so he sold it instead!
I had to travel a full 20 minutes ish to Worksop to get mine after a workmate told me about one for sale.
I got lucky, my bay was the 1st one I viewed/ driven and was only 5 miles up the road. That said I've traveled a good few hours before now when buying other cars.
So many vans get bought interstate here in Australia. I’m in Sydney and mine came from Brisbane. 1,000 kms away. Had someone mechanic mate look at it for me and then had it shipped down Plenty in Brisbane by from Melbourne, Adelaide even Perth if it’s the right kombi………
We would love to have made a weekend of driving down to see it, however we are still self isolating/shielding as I (Mrs S) am clinically vulnerable to Covid; yes over 2 years and still not going out other than to have our inoculations . We hope that having a "Happy Bus" will make all the difference though, our own little bubble for days out and holidays Yay! @CollyP @paulcalf @theBusmonkey
Where is your nearest railway station, and how far is it from you? I wouldn't mind driving up to you if it would help. If you're interested, please call me (07761 801772) so we can chat. Jon B
Its up to you and none of my business really, but putting your phone number on the internet is asking for hassle.
I have a sunroof in my tintop so can stand up putting on trousers and ******* in a bottle smiling at passer by's.
Hello My Wife and I have owned a 1973 reg type 2 Devon poptop for 29 years. We are thinking of selling it. It is a 3 owner vehicle with FULL SERVICE HISTORY. The previous 2 owners are friends and so we genuinely know it's whole history. It has ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED. It is a much admired, original 'van. What it doesn't have (from your brief list) is a rock and roll bed though. We live on the Suffolk/Essex 'border'. I shall check this forum from time to time this week to see if there's any response/s. John
Hi Jon, Thank you for messaging, can I ask what type of bed it has please? I think if you are in the Sudbury area that would be just over 2 hours from us which is doable as we are in the south east of Lincolnshire - the hilly bit.
Hi, It's the original 'box' base type. Swings and roundabouts when compared to a rock 'n' roll version, in that this arrangement offers more storage in the bases. I am 6 foot tall and I find the bed very comfortable. When revamped vans are offered for sale they frequently have 'hidden' rust problems along the bottom edge of the windscreen. The beginnings of this substantial problem show as rust streaks on the inside, under the dashboard. This will usually be in vans that have rarely, if ever been garaged. Ours has not suffered this fate. One of the reasons that knowledgeable people are impressed when they look closely at it, be that either in or under it. We are just South of Sudbury.
Good morning to the Steels. I have requested advice on how to conduct this discussion so that we may continue the dialogue within the rules.
