    What a great day out.

Left Southampton area about 0900. Came up the A3 and the A244 from the south. Bad idea - queues started about half a mile from the junction heading north on the A3.
As we arrived near the back of the queue about 1030, a couple of nice metallic blue beetles were busy waving at the splittie just in front of us. Suddenly it went all YouTube and the beetles skidded and swerved around to a halt with lots of tyre smoke, the splittie slamming on his brakes and just stopping in time.
We stopped well short - one advantage of the Late Bay with disc brakes...
About 2 hours later we had covered the 2.5 miles to the show ground, it was possible to assemble salad cheese and bread for lunch and eat it while sitting stationary in the queue. One driver stopped by the road side and went off into the woods and came back a few minutes later and only lost about 2 places in the queue.
Rather than wasting time in Esher high street only to be sent on from the full main car park , we went straight on to the overflow car parking. A mere 4 and a half hours later we walked into the Show. It should have been about 1 and a half hours. The BBC were going on about road works but there were none actually on the route.

A great show and the whole family enjoyed it.

Next time we will be camping ....

  8. We only came from Langley, 27.5 miles, 36 mins it said on google. So we waited till 11 to let the rush die down, we hit the queue about 1.5 miles back from the junction on the A3, after moving nowhere in 30 mins we decided to go on down to the next junction and come in from the Scilly isles, oh dear, wrong move, eventually about 1.30 we gave up and went and sat by the river Thames, shall we try again tomorrow ???

    Here we go!

  14. Queues were a nightmare, not only that but the main car park was full and the alternative car park was full as well. Had to park 1.5 miles away in a side street and walk in! Not happy. Did manage to get loads of bits for my Bay, say hi to Birdy and a few others but not sure if I will bother next year. P**s poor parking organisation!

  16. Cheers to everyone who came along and helped out. The weekend was a huge success display-wise. Unfortunately we did not win "best club", but we know late bays are not Volksworld-editing-team's cup of tea anyway!

Thanks to all those who popped over and said hello. IT was nice to put some more faces to names.

We had a great weekend and look forward to seeing you all again soon!

  17. Good to see a few faces at last, it seems very oriented towards earlys and splits though. Finally met Mork and his young lady, Hippyrich and his missis and I believe technohippy.

  19. I feel really bad but one of the guys and girls I met I have forgotten their names! Only ones I remember are Birdy and Rickydoo.
