VolksWorld Show - Sandown Park - 24-25 March 2012

Discussion in 'Shows Events You've Missed unless you went' started by JenW, Nov 20, 2011.

  1. Jen and I have been talking about the area we have been put in. It has its pros an and its cons.

The cons being it is not obvious and it would be very quiet if the weather was bad.

The pros would be if we could get that whole space in that corner and do something more with it. It is a lovely little spot.

We've already been banding around some ideas such as a TLB tea party. Any thoughts from you guys would be welcome.

  2. I think we should set up a little bar or something and do what a few other stands did, selling cans of beer or a few drinks at near enough cost price, if the vans are set up correctly with a bit of an atmosphere we would get some visitors. I'm happy to be a display van next year too, there will be something to look at by then!

The more vans we have too the bigger the pull will be. Lets push for a bigger set-up next year and and get a few more vans.

The area was a great little corner which caught plenty of sun, so if this area can be reserved for next year, excellent!

We will definately pop one of our vans in the line up, should you need us to - if we can get Gusbus sorted by then, we will gladly pop him in ;D

We have a year to prepare for the next show, we can do it!!

 I was meaning us as a forum has a year to prepare chuck ;D

  6. Good Idea selling beers at cost price, would get the punters in.
Great to see all the gang again. roll on this weekend for the hogs back brewery tour!

  7. I liked the Area for the sunshine and the fact we could still chill a little if needed behind the Vans. I think the small ammount of Vans showing on the sunday (I wasnt there Saturday) made the area a little bit like a parking area than a club stand (might not have helped with me sprawling out our cooking table). I have just ordred a pop up Gazebo off groupon for £50 3m x 3m which is a bargain for one of those maybe something along the lines of this with a few of the Latebay items of memoribalia etc for sale on a table as the centre piece (stickers t-shirts eco bags) etc and maybe a TLB flag on a Pole big as you can flying around. I think ideally getting at least double the ammount of Vans will makes it look less like we are just parked, then we could then have two rows down each side angled or not LoL facing toward each other, additional we could have a little Autojumble area of our own??
Still it was good an I enjoyed it got some child labour out of ryan so all was good, Ps think he may have given out about 10-15 cards.
I think in hindsight I would have liked to have done the weekend camping for the social side of it even though its only round the corner from home then we can spend more time at the Vans, I would say on a ratio I was at the Van for 65% of the time and in the show the rest over the two days this would be massively reduced meanign i could meet all the people that needed to be Met, Think names on the Vans is a good idea for next time altough to be honest Jen did pleanty of arranging as it was, but also wearing either a name tag or a latebay named T-shirt or hoody.

    Karma to thos i met

    Thanks

    Lee

  9. I think one of the issues is not us and our organising - Jen was a god.

But Vowo themselves are seriously disorganised and have the worst communication I have ever dealt with.

  10. As bad as SSVC? ;)

  13. I tried to find the TLB stand yesterday afternoon but failed - no Volksworld staff around to ask. Bit annoying as I was keen to pop by and say hello. Oh well, perhaps next year...

  14. I couldn't find you either, I wanted to drop by and say hello and give Jen some beer for her top work with the firetec group buy.... :(

  16. It would be good to have it in the Programme of events supply by volksworld but we could make Googlmap post and pinoint the camping area and the stand area before we go assume we will get the same spot each year. which to be hoenst seems likely.

  17. Great starting point guys! Any trading may be a bit tricky and mean we would have to pay for a pitch. If we could offer something for free like teas and coffees, they might let us do it.

    Keep 'em coming.

  19. Agree with Lee a club flag would be a great idea, also as said more info in Volksworld programme would help, We have a great spot but as long as weather is reasonable, with the space there I was thinking of one of the Coleman event shelters ,
By the way Ryan said he didn't want to hand out cards, more fun playing with Rich :)
