Try using some exhaust wrap on the exhaust...

 

I thought the reason for this heat shield on T4's was to reduce the heat sucked in from the fan that is just inches away from the exhaust hence why I can't see the point of them on the T1 engine.

 

There is a point - the rear tin does get rather hot, and therefore there's plenty of opportunity for hot air to get into the cool zone.

 

What is the purpose of the gravel guard?
