The ones who never made it back

It could be your coil overheating. After cooling down for a couple of hours, all was fine again; I had this exact issue last year, fixed thanks to the excellent knowledge of TLB Try swapping out the coil for a known good one. Easy fix if this is the issue

 

Can you recommend a good coil?

 

What’s your location. Maybe someone has a good second hand one.

 

I'm in Hampshire but I think after 10 fairly trouble free years it's probably time to open up my wallet !!

I had (still got somewhere) a pertronix oil filled (aren’t they all?) coil and electronic ignition that never let me down. Sadly, the newer ones aren’t so great or maybe a bit hit & miss.

Always tricky on holiday, I see you decided to carry on and see what happens.
Fingers crossed it's something silly and the engine is ok.

 

We made it to the last campsite so we managed to complete our holiday but I must admit it looks serious

 

Are you anywhere near that vintage volts bloke/con artist , maybe it would be cheap to sell the house and have ot converted to leccky, its the in thing you know ,well at least for this year till reality strikes .

 

Is this a good club to be part of? 7 miles into the 100 mile return journey from the lakes, first time being recovered!

 

What happened?

 

A mild case of my accelerator cable snapping in half. Managed to limp it to just outside a pub going downhill.

Surely everyone keeps a spare accelerator and clutch cable with them.

On the bright side at least it was 7 miles in and not 7 miles left. Great MPG
