  1. Your welcome dude

I can understand the reason you started this thread
I myself have somthing inside me that yearns for an alternative to the way life has become

I dont enjoy the fast pace of the modern world and when it does pull me in a get massivly depressed
However i am not lazy/ a theif or after handouts
Whats wrong with steering your own destiny whilst trying your hardest not to cause damage to others?

Ive been called many things during my life in many countries including murderer

    It sure opens your eyes

Some truth as said before there is good and bad in everything. I mean the rest of the world is all business and that doesn't interest me. Most business is about greed and what you can con out of someone else.

  5. But then your not putting back in to what your taking out

I dont mind paying tax because if i break my leg the nhs will fix it for free so to speak

A very inspirational outlook Para. Yes feel the same. There is something not right with the fellow person, it seems its not about friends, family and nature so much as greed and progress is most important to people.
When people think of the hippy culture they think of a fashionable peace man symbol when the actual roots of it and how it started are entirely different. Same as the New Age traveller movement, people think its about scrounging when it's more about not wanting to be part of a spoon fed society that we have to fit into.
I'm not saying I do any of these things though I'm trying to more and more every day.

I think this thread is great idea, lots of people would love to drop out, if thats the correct phrase and change their style of living. Unfortunately the ideals you and Para believe in have been corrupted and people use these terms but don't believe the same as you and just freeload, thieve and cause problems.

ANYWAYS. This thread was more about sharing topics that may be of interest to people who are interested in these cultures... Please add any findings. Everyone's entitles to there opinions (FREE SPEACH) just I wanted to hopefully learn more things and share rather than pull apart :)

Not quite there yet, been given 6th Sept as likely moving date, but end of month for rental start. Looks like I'll be homeless for a few weeks! That's why I'm on this thread looking for some pointers:)

  12. Cant wait to spend time with you round the campfire dude

I would go into more detail about my background and my views and how i ended up with my mindset that steers me in this direction
However i need to remember this is the internet and things often get taken out of context and a flame war starts

Living of the land isnt what it used to be but if you do your research and practice your skills and stay under the radar its almost possible
A certain degree of interaction with modern life is needed
However that doesent mean you have to like it you just accept it as a neccasity

Oops thats another full page ive deleted yet again due to the worry it would be read wrong and fired back against me

Such is the joys of the internet

Great stuff. Brill thing is there is no set way. If we all contribute we can all learn from each other and live the way we want as much as we can. What I mean by this is there may be something someone might share that you can take and put into practice that will make this all worth while. I would just prefer more positive contributions and suggestions on topics. Eg Para saying about making soap, could come in useful sometime or maybe just a fun activity whilst out in your van.

I think I could sit and listen all night :) I really have such a limited knowledge but all these things really interest me and find them all fascinating. Would love a weekend of learning all these things.

Here's a website from OZ on Living Off The Grid.
    http://livingoffthegrid.com.au/

Ms.T & I looked at a couple of properties that were off the grid but decided against it for no other reason other than they were just too remote & rainfall isn't all that consistent out here.

  20. Water is the source of life so you did right
Wells dont work in oz lol

I know im right in my head with the way i want to live my ideal life
However convincing the rest of the people around me makes me sound like a mad man

Once a psyc asked me what would be my most valuble things in life

When i said a cooking pot and a water filter you should have seen the look

Next question was how many zombie films have you watched

I dont care that people think im nuts anymore i just keep adding more stings to my bow in the way of old skills and knowledge
I aint the one that has no water or food when a fuel crises hits
