For all those into the Hippy / Tribal Living Culture. I wanted to start a thread where we can all share any found info at all.

The idea is a lighthearted sharing thread :)
After all I think the whole vibe goes with our VW Hippy Vans, Hippy Culture of late 60s-on and Van Dwellers of the New Age Traveller Movement.
Be great to learn new things from each other.

From Documentary Videos, ways of living to great Recipes.

Please share anything you feel relevant that would be interesting to the rest of us eg Books, Recipes, Off Grid Living, Spiritual Places, 60/70s Hippies, New Age Travellers, Tree People, etc etc.

  14. Whilst watching the videos I started to wonder how our life style / hobby is compatible with the NAT ideals.
We drive old fuel inefficient vehicles for fun along roads like the Newbury by-pass grateful that we are not stuck in traffic jams.
As a member of the National Trust I love our countryside yet not really given it a second thought about driving to get there.
    Thought provoking.

Magic Bus: On the Hippie Trail From Istanbul to India

    book-MB.jpg
Travel writer MacLean (Stalin's Nose, Falling for Icarus) retraces the infamous hippie trail trod by fun seekers, drug seekers and seekers of fulfillment and enlightenment in the 1960s and '70s, when Afghanistan was unknown except maybe to readers of Kipling, the Shah ruled Iran and the Khyber Pass was, well, passable. Dubbing these travelers "The Intrepids", MacLean tracks the history of the trail. Starting out in Istanbul, MacLean meets Penny, one of the original travelers, who, pushing seventy, is still floating about the east in beads and feathers, spewing memories of her sex life and speaking of karma. MacLean does a fine job finding journalists and local people who remember the hippies and their impact on both the economy and the sensibility of the places they passed through. His sometimes romantic vision of the seekers aside, MacLean makes a sincere effort to understand why the trip was so seductive and important historically. Interactions with people along the way and his references to the music of the trail are delightful, and while the writing can seem overly sentimental in the early pages, MacLean hits his stride quickly; making his way through dangerous and hostile Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan brings out his finest writing. Travelers of all kinds, including the armchair variety, will relish the work and love MacLean has put into his latest.

Entered my mind too. I guess its all about moderation and being aware of things. I think as long as you do put back also then your heart is in the right place. I think too many people just don't think at all.
I mean they are thinking of digging up the barrier reef? https://secure.avaaz.org/en/australian_coal_disaster_global/?dPbEhfb
Why? Its fine as it is. A natural wonder. When its gone its gone. World might cave in :(

It would be hard to make this stuff up. Australia’s legendarily irresponsible mining industry has a new plan: while the planet faces catastrophic climate change, build the world’s largest coal mining complex, and then build a shipping lane to that port straight through the greatest ecological treasure we have - the Great Barrier Reef!

This is a terrible idea with devastating consequences, and the investor group Aurizon that’s backing it know it. They’re getting cold feet, andwe might be able to push them over the edge, and kill the project. One of the main potential funders has even donated to climate activism!

If one million of us express our head-shaking disbelief at this crazy project in the next few days, we can help get Aurizon to pull funding and maybe even persuade the Australian PM to step in. This is what Avaaz is for, let’s raise a voice for common sense!
