I used to work on the hop harvest every year with an alcoholic tramp who lived in hedgerows. He had a circuit that kept him busy enough to survive. Very alternative - like Para but with no gear and never going "home". All he had was in a carrier bag and it was cider. He only ate solid food on Saturdays when he'd cook kilo's of meat and treat himself to a bottle of whisky after which he turned into an arse for the rest of the day.

  3. Horse chesnut leaves or soapwart can be mushed between the hands with a little water to make a frothy soapy solution
Its the naturally occuring sapphonis in the plant that create the cleaning agent

He volunteered for the second world war at 15, got sent to Crete where he was shot right through the chest but was so *******ed (because he was frightened) that he didn't notice until someone pointed it out. He then lost his marbles and was sent home and moved straight to the hedge life. He must have been in his 50's when I knew him.

Living off grid is a great idea, avoiding a life of over consumption and having concerns for the environment and planet is very admirable. Living under the banner of Hippy, Traveller, New Age traveller etc as a means to live a life that contributes nothing to society or the welfare of the planet is a waste of valuable oxygen.

  7. So ,who says, where it is it written that to get /obtain/use valuable oxygen you must contribute to " society" and what counts as a contribution ? (to obtain valuable oxygen)every life is worth a million constructed societies , (imo)

would you feel the same if the high speed trains were coming near to your house but not near enough that they buy your house to compensate? that's what i'm up against, my house is for sale and i'm blighted by it.

my house backs onto the east coast mainline, i dont even hear it anymore, it's called progress, everywhere was fields and trees years back even the nice little villages with picture postcard looks that everyone now likes, they did'nt want them building either

  17. when are they gona do sumat about the planes:)

  18. So if i lived in a horsebox that had living accomodation and a workshop in the back
Lets say i drove up and down the country fixing classic vehicles and labouring on building sites along with doing the ocassional farm work according to season
If i registerd myself as a Ltd buisness and paid the appropriated taxes and claimed the aprropriate bennefits i was entitled to

    What would that make me?

To me id see that as inputting into to society even being a bennefit to society
However i would be living an alternative life style and i would be classed as a travveler
