  1. Bit of a chore putting it in, but glad I did. Transforms the van for colder weather. 0.4l/hour in petrol for 2.2kW. Toasty!

  2. Had a coffee by the beach (St Mary's Bay - Kent) then came home and cleaned it.

I decided to tackle the rust I can see under the windscreen seal (nearside) so ordered a seal from Schofields and will do that once we are not using it over the winter.

Had a day off work today and I’ve been itching to give the crewie a good clean since his liberation from the workshop.

He’s been washed inside and out, tidied out, hoovered and I’ve given the crewcab floor a fresh coat of satin black Rustoleum.

I even treated him to an insulated floor mat for the front - from Madmatz - lovely fit by the way if anyone wants one. 7DA1D630-0633-4350-BE82-F96FBB8E6AD3.jpeg

The original rubber mat goes over the top of this. Should help keep him warm and a bit quieter.

If the weather holds, I will try and get the rear interior back once the paint has cured.

Next job is those pesky driveshaft gaiters.

    Installed new solar panel.

Took it for a good test drive, stopped for an aperitivo, cause thats what we do here.... Doesn't beat a pint of local ale in an old English pub though.

Fiddled with a seeping oil hose .. when my bus went into the garage, the hose clamps for the oil hose went over the braid, which acted as padding between the clamp and the rubber inner. The crew at the garage decided that hose clamps go on bare hose so they hauled the braiding back, chewed it up and then put the clamps onto the rubber part. Where the same clamps started pinching the hose.
I did try and ask them to split the oil connection off the engine by taking off the filter bracket but they no listen.

Bought it a set of nice T bolt clamps that have a smoother internal profile. I will probably end up buying a short length of oil hose to replace the bit that has got damaged by the garage

  9. Got jiggy with the Sikabond

  10. Blue Aeroquip will do you nicely . No need for braiding.

I’ve used AN swivel fittings and SS over-braided hose from AliExpress for several years. Plenty good, no clamps, no leaky. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/100...vid=202210071114026396848079400130000396921_1

That’s why I bought them direct from China. ;)

  13. I bought UK-machined fittings and they were about £8 each

Just a matter of who programs the CNC machine - someone in the UK or someone in China...

My setup is based on various barbed hose fittings and 1/2" hydraulic fittings. So all these press on hoses dont really fit. I originally was driven by the CB Maxi 3 hoses only just fitting under the cutouts in the support bar if the hose did not have a great big AN bulge on the end of it.. a pair of Jubilee style clamps fits nicely on each hose, and do not increase the diameter.

The braided hose also resisted being roasted in the fire I had.. while bare rubber hose went toasty.

  17. That place tortured us as kids
Every year we were dragged up there by our parents to walk the golden mile and look at the illuminations.
