  1. Do you know why though??

It's because all the emergency services and the military use hand held radio's and to make it an offence to use them on the move would be......well you know, a bit silly. Hence the careless or inconsiderate, which would have to be evidenced by another action.

  4. That looks grim :(

  5. With the cracking you’ve had from replacing the lower half of the front panel and the top being worse than you imagined.
If you can stomach the cost of buying a whole panel after paying out for the repair pieces so far
Then I think that would be a good move and would give you a better end result.

Best of luck with it whichever route you take.

  7. More clipping and patching down the back, followed by glueing tomorrow.

Made a coffee, fired up the old Eberspacher. Warm as toast, on toast, with a side portion of toast

I think I would like to have done it better but theres a window in my spare time and good weather so it gets done fast, knowing it will all need doing better in the end.

I do not want to have the bus off the road, for more than a few days or rather if I do have it unavailable for too long, I will have to buy another car..

Currently my employers only ask me to be in work maybe one or two days a month, so occasional commutes in the bus have been manageable.
The rest of the time, the laptop comes out at home and I work remotely.

So far the lower piece of front panel cost me £20 from Schofields. The other repair panels around it to the inner and outer deformation panels and A pillars were £450. So I can live with gradually fighting the cracking ..
Next time it will be a BBT panel..

Yeah good points Paul. CB has a bad rep with amateur radio enthusiasts, and in some cases rightly so, as there are nobs who use the unregulated bands to play music continuously and eff and Jeff coz they can!
We found ourselves having to switch channels on the journey but there are 40 to play with, well 38 if you exclude emergency and general callout.
It helps to have a code word plan to move up or down a few as you're travelling.

All this chat about CB radio is making me wistful for the days of heading out to clear skies and talking all night to strangers who became friends….. kind of like TLB really :)

Hacked out the bottom of the screen surround and started welding in repair pieces..

Did all the cutting with a sheet metal nibbler after going out to get some more cutting discs

All back together now. Clock is slightly fast but fine by me but the fuel gauge is suspect due to connections. Any suggestions to a sure fix most welcome. Blue tack has come to mind.?

    [QUOTE="theBusmonkey,

The interesting thing is that it's not illegal to use a handset on the move like it is to use a mobile, but you can still get done for undue care and attention if the law thinks it's appropriate:rolleyes:[/QUOTE]

I am not sure that your right with this . I believe it is illegal to use any mobile communication device whilst driving ,that includes laptops, tablet device , walkie talkie and cb radio. There are exemptions for emergency service staff and taxi drivers. Members of the public can but only in case of an emergency .

Totally agree then you can use what you want. That's what I did awhile back so the body shop had all that they wanted. The panel was shipped from Schofield and held upright on a pallet..
