  1. Don't leave that copy of "Landscaping Tips by Fred West" lying around!

Anyway, the powerspark died and I managed a whole 12000 miles from it.

time to either go petronix or one of those posh billet bluetooth things

Front ones set to 3/4 turn with rears set to 1 turn on the adjustment. Lets see how that fares!

  11. Popped the lid off my old Vege. Belatedly realised I'd bolted the wrong case half to the stand. Duh.

Was expecting to find @soggs - styley snail tracks on the flywheel end bearing due to end float, but...nothing. Measured up the thrust cut (which had been cut, not "indented" by the clutch): 20mm presactly, so last cut. Realised Vege had for some reason stuck a 21mm bearing in it...which would explain my 1mm of end float. The whole bearing moves in the case. These Dutch, eh? If they spent less time smoking dope and listening to old Captain Beefheart records, they wouldn't cock bearing sizes up.

Cam's a bit tired and the case is a bit battered, but otherwise everything's just fine. Out with my CSP ninja-measurererererers tomorrow, then I might slap some new bearings and rings back in and glue him back together. He will live again

  16. The Whippet must be led by bit of string or your belt, which might also be the same bit of string.

  17. Definitely the same thing, no true Yorkshireman is going to buy a belt AND a bit of string:D

  18. I should have said "twine" not "string".... that would have been proper.

  19. Points for identifying this:

Just took some sideboard carpentry apart to reconfigure. Half scared, but more curious, to see the state of the cavity below the rear rhs window - poked holes through from the outside, so Titanic levels of rust anticipated.

Well that white paint is what I managed to get on (several coats with an angled long handle brush) from underneath reaching through the paint tin lid and upwards).

Coverage looks pretty good from what I can gather.

So if you’ve got the engine out, it might be worth exploring doing this.

    Who won points?
Bonus points for explaining why there are oval holes there.

  20. Good. Lot of whippet flue around. The Barnsley variant is pretty nasty.
