    Sounds about right

  4. Engine still not in but finishing up the wiring. It will make life easier on startup day.

  5. No. I’m months away from anything like that i’m afraid.
Having to buy things now just to prepare where to put them and the wiring routing. I’ve got about £2k of kit plus a new engine just gathering dust.

I’m so slow that by the time i’m done the combustion engine will be banned and the sun gone supernova. I guess at that point nothing will matter.

  7. Ok. I wondered about that.
I suppose I can wire it, as per instructions, just to see if the lights come on. As for functionality I can’t really do anything.
    Thanks.

  8. Plug a solar panel into it and check it charges a battery

  9. I don’t have any panels yet. Still researching all of that as i’ve struggled to find any that fit my roof and yet are affordable and decent technology.

    These are looking promising though:

They look good to me but you might want to ask Solar Power Supply what the maximum operating temperature is.

  11. Good point.
I’ll call them tomorrow as it isn’t clear how to attach them. They have eyelets in the corners but that’s not a great way to fix to a campervan roof i’d have thought.

Other than that it’s every box ticked apart from not being CIGS.

Let me know what they say please, the maximum temperature would be critical for me.

I’d stick them down with Sikaflex 252i.

  13. I used little plastic feet with an 8mm threaded metal bar up the middle and sikaflex'd onto the roof . Think along the lines of those levelling feet on office chairs...
I'll see if I can find a link later .

  14. I’ve got:
    Rear @ 120 x 125cm
    Front @ 120 x 49cm

A combination of those panels could give me a whopping 335w.
Various other combos would yield 255w or 285w.

Devon roof but with a larger surround vent towards the front. It’s already a heavy (over zealous fibreglassing) so weight is a consideration. All the flexible ones seem quite light though.

    Old skool battery service today.
Removed the test lithium, fitted the AGM, reconnected the VSR and checked the starter for electrolyte. :)

  16. Fought with the gas heater bowden cable and ducting all day long but got the engine in by myself in 20 minutes. Still a lot of odds and ends to finish up.

    Very pleasant Dutch company.

Operating temperature is -20• to +65• celsius.
Recommends Sikaflex 291 to adhere but it can affect the operating temperature - best applied sparingly and they can advise more on that.

It was an education for me in the difference between parallel & series connections.
Looks like for me with the Sterling it could all work out.
