  1. I've had this basic Sealey kit for over 20 years and made up countless cunifer pipes with it (it won't do steel). Definitely not 'professional' quality but gets the job done and currently available on eBay for just £21 in P&P

  2. I borrowed one identical off my brother in law, I dont think it was Sealey, the pipe was harder than the tool ha ha

Horrible things, Snotty's looks much better.

  4. V. pleased with it...and you can use it under the van when you've...miscalculated.

Def need something heftier for doing steel pipe. Not that anyone uses it.

  5. Agreed but Snotty's probably cost considerably more than £21 and the Sealey kit will get the job done. Ideal for anyone with only a handful of pipes to make up in their remaining lifetime.

I know the Bay owning demographic has changed considerably over the last 20 odd years but there's still a few of us left trying to keep these things on the road on tight budgets.

  6. Think mine was about £35. It will only do one kind of flare (had to buy a different punch piece for doing SAE flares for my servo). Not bad though, esp. if you’re replumbing a whole van.

I had one like I've been insulting first. It's too easy for the halves not to line up which leaves a crease and it's a real fiddle and hard to judge.
Now I've got a vice mounted Sykes-Pickavant set like this. Bosh, done. I could make a perfect flare on any type of pipe every 5 - 10 seconds. :smug:

We've all done it, perfect flare patiently obtained on less than perfect tool... forgot to put the fitting on first. :D

Used exactly one of those on the syncro a few months ago. They are steel piped...;)
Great bit of kit. Not the cheapest but British made to boot.

Threw this in. Literally. It's a temp fix whilst I get to grips with the lithium but my god it's complicated. o_O
