The All New, New "What have you done to your Bay today" thread.

  1. Interested to know too as I ought to change some flexible brake hoses.

  2. Here y'go. Kunifer is 3/16" 4.7mm. Hand held tool works really well. Can't remember if I used the long or short unions, but they're cheap enough. Worth giving them a wipe over with Waxoyl/Dynax to slow down the rot. The DIN bubble flares seal really well: a quick nip, and they're done.

Once you've practiced doing a good flare, easy peasy. You can bend the kunifer with your thumbs (which ache like hell afterwards).

Thanks, as you say a bit expensive with no guarantee it works or does not leak!

Mine weeps. I’m after new one too.

  11. Get a plumber in. They’ll fix it.

  12. …and as per other thread, you will need a proper brake spanner.

  13. Does yours do steel brake pipe

  14. Possibly, but there’s no real point in using steel. It’ll rust and it will be a beggar to bend.

  15. so you use the copper pipe?

  16. Yes. Kunifer is an alloy of copper and nickel. Widely available for brake pipes.

    <edit> And steel

Also managed to break my sliding door, well the rod came off here but thankfully I managed to find a clip to hold it on again, might have to replace the latch, unless anyone knows if the pin can be replaced?

An early tank will have the single breather going back to by the fuel filler.

Get one of the about £40 British made flaring tools, they can cope with cunifer, the cheap flaring kits only cope with copper, and just self-destruct after one use on cunifer.

The cutter from the cheap set is worth having, that's all.. Just like @snotty's kit in fact.

Used some cable ties to hold the plastic bits around the nose of my Peugeot together so bits that were hanging off it stopped scraping on speed bumps.
Checked my two fanbelt pulleys hadnt fallen off the bus after driving it for a few miles on Saturday and the rear tinware was still where I left it after putting more screws in yesterday.

Turns out today was our 35th wedding anniversary. Had a Nicoise salad for tea, and some wine.
