The spec is 11mm to 19mm so potential for 8mm of excess

    Did you fit them?

  3. Doesn't mean they're right ;)

I didn't fit all of them, I prefer the spring loaded clips as it's not a high pressure system spring loaded are fine

I don't think they would supply them if they are wrong,

I would happily fit them but preferred the spring clips

They’ve done a lot of research into fuel safety and a lot of great info on their website. This is what they supply.

I think the reason is that the thinner band grips the male inner better

Got plenty of the other type though

What other type of pressure regulator would you recommend?

  10. I'm not trying to find fault, btw. From memory, several folk on here have had them leak after a while. Not really what you want.

No that’s fine, I’m doing this to prevent leaks. Any info helps here

  12. Good, no offence intended. Given that none of us want fuel spraying around the engine room, I would change that regulator. "Proper" hose clips (I used 11-13s on mine) are available for not very much.

I was always taught not to use jubilee clips on fuel lines. That’s why fuel line clips are made, because of unseen rupturing.( Motor Mechanical Course,Apprentice,Y.T.S, 1985/87. Worked in 3 different garages ,on commercial buses, lorries, brand new cars, customer cars.).
Some things just stick with me...;)

Those hose clips are fine, they are not jubilee clips they are hose clips.

Jubilee is a brand name and they have been producing hose clips and clamps since 1921. https://www.jubileeclips.co.uk/

The clips supplied by Air Cooledworks are not Jubilee but they are worm drive fuel hose clips and at least as good as the nut and bolt type. Neither type is perfect, both clamp the hose unevenly, both need to be the correct size for the hose, both are as good as each other.

i wouldn’t bother if you have no problems with it I’ve had a EMPI one for years with no problem the numbers on it mean nothing so I set mine up with a pressure gauge and its been fine.

Fuel hose clips are nowhere near as important as having the correct size pipe.
If you were trying to make so-called 6mm (1/4" = 6.35mm) fit where it should be 5.5mm then the wide nut/bolt ones are arguably better. lol
I suspect, from experience "back in the day" that the confusion has arisen due to the above scenario.
"Back in the day" I saw (and owned) vans with no clips at all or with horribly over-tightened actual jubilee clips and 1/4" pipe. I remember when the hose connection came out of my carb I tapped it back in with a hammer. Same for my type-4 fuel pump later. One bus I had only had 7-8mm of pipe from the tank. was a bugger getting the hose to stay on.
    Times change huh?

The one I had it didn't make any difference where you set it. I'm not suggesting they are all faulty, but I took it apart and the bit that adjusts just moved around in the fuel flow doing nowt. :)

One thing I did find odd with them is that because they’re not supplied as round, you have to thread the worm drive and make the round yourself as you tighten the screw. As you can imagine there is potential to be far from round. I got around this by forming them on a 15mm copper pipe first - bit odd though.

Consensus seems to be split on these clips. They’re not Jubilee clips though. As not many people have actually used these I may revert to the usual JK type

Must admit I’ve turned the dial from Max to min and no difference in running!
