Trying to keep the momentum up even though the weather has been miserable here today.

Emptied the petrol tank into random cars and motorbike as it was looking a bit crusty on the underside..

Brush off the loose stuff followed by a layer of Rustoleum grey undercoat

I got the removable crewcab bulkheads back from the powder coaters yesterday and got my young apprentice to fit some dynamat on the inside face ( where you won’t see it)..

    He did a great job..

So good in fact, I’ve persuaded him to fit some more for me in the cramped space where the petrol tank lives and over the inside of the rear arches.

Once it’s all back together and the back seat is in, I’m hoping it will result in a much quieter cabin.

For now we’re waiting for paint to dry and the weather to improve.

  2. ;);););)Added the tiniest grub screw to my ignition housing M3 x 5mm for ref. F53527E2-02F2-4683-A130-4CD62CA5974B.jpeg They come in bags of ten for a quid so I have nine left if anyone ever wants one? Another arduous job ticked off - I deserve a pint.

  4. Fitted some assistance. Getting weak or too old to lift the roof. Much better :)

My Gaz coilovers cost less than that .. more like £300 ... Yes you can use the Gaz adjustable shocks without the extra springs on a stock bus. They consist of a shock absorber with a place to fit various springs.

Shocks will make almost zero difference to wind wandering unless they are really not working. They are there to stop it skipping off on a corner or constantly wallowing around.

  6. Be interesting to know how long it takes your Rusto to dry.

Don’t forget your foam seal around the tank outlet!

  8. Nice, mixture screws? I recently changed the o-rings on mine

  9. Extended hex-head mixture screws, to give a fighting chance of finding them in the engine room.

Got them from Gabriele in Italy (alfa1750 on eBay). If you need Dell, Weber or Solex bits, he may work out cheaper than Eurocarb etc, even with shipping

  10. That's what's on mine, much easier to find them :)

  11. Worth getting the extended idle jet holders as well, so you can locate the blasted things with your head crammed into the engine compartment.

The paint is touch dry after 5 hours but I’ll leave it until tomorrow to put a satin black top coat on.

I think Rustoleum takes weeks to fully cure ?

Re petrol tank bottom seal - great minds ;)

Rusto does take a fair while to go off in my experience. Good stuff tho’

  14. Boring question, but what diameter is the hole in the middle of the washer?

There is an irony to obsess about blocking out light with blackout blinds retained by magnets, only to obsess about flooding the place with as much light as possible once cocooned!
