Fitting a door card to Major, was dreading it but with patience it went well.

  4. Interesting, I have one for my normal car, so handy! I have an extra one to keep in the van to use when I get the cigarette lighter installed. Mostly for emergencies but yeah, hope it doesn’t melt

  5. Did some hacking on the Electric Mattress behind my glovebox. My central locking now functions again, after much head-scratching. Buttons thumping up and down like good 'uns. Hurrah!

If anyone's fitted one of the Taiwanese kits (mine's from RightClick, but they all seem much the same), I suggest you disconnect the door motor switches (brown and white (and black) on the RightClick), just leaving the two motor drive lines. The motors survive a good dowsing with rainwater in Bay doors, but the switches seem to decompose/corrode to give really odd behaviour, which confuses the locking controller. Don't really need the "manual" feature anyway, and it's three less cables to take through the door.

To celebrate, took him for a romp down the Hampshire lanes, then threw a blanket over him and stuck a CTEK up his bottom. He's a very good boy.

Which after removing the cover, and a clean - now looks like this.

Gave the framework a wire brush and respray, and as deep a clean as possible without getting to aggressive. Just need to pop a temporary cover on it for now and get it installed - our daughter is soooooooo happy :D

  7. One thing that was lacking when we bought her, was some decent audio, so gathered the required hardware and had this lot installed:
    • Alpine iLX-702D Head Unit
    • Morel - Tempo Ultra Integra 402 Front Speakers in the kick panel
    • Focal 690AC Performance Access Rear Speakers under the Rock 'n' Roll bed
    • DLS ACW10 Active Subwoofer under the Rock 'n' Roll bed
    • Echomaster PCAM-201 Reverse Camera into the number plate light
Changed the splashscreen to match the body colour, and hey presto, decent sounds which keeps the family happy :p

    Like the seat.
If the brown stain is after you've tried to clean it, try Mr Muscle oven cleaner.

  9. Even even Flash worked in with the tip of a 1" paint brush :hattip:

You know when the basket weave looks brown and like it's melted after 40 years in the sun? Mr Muscle lifts it out even from the tiny deep dots - anyone who has studied closely knows what I mean by that. Paint brush and Flash? You should try Mr Muscle, it won't hurt the vinyl, I promise you will never look back. Greasy Grime - Gone!

Dash lid and binnacle? Mr Muscle - trust me it lift the crud out completely with zero effort, like new.

That looks super smart. The reflection might drive you nuts on a sunny day though!

    Day

Changed a very leaky rear brake cylinder, adjusted brakes... Hmmm.

Ordered new brake shoes as mine are very very thin.

Need to adjust them again tomorrow, I'm not satisfied.

Still, nice to be doing little, needed jobs.

  16. We went for a drive out to our local woods and walked the dog (it's near to @zedders )-( car park was a bit busy and a police car was there when we got back - but they didn't stop us) . Put £20 of fuel in on way back - it's gone up to 125p/litre! I checked and the last time I put £20 worth in was last September - only done 190 miles since.

Fitted rubber bumper strips and modified a Mazda MX5 number plate mount to fit so I can still use the front panel stone chip protector and display the plate.

It should last a few days until some thicket cracks it by touch-parking..

That heater will burn the back of anybodys leg in the way, or melt a blanket with 130C air if it vents like that !
