    I prefer
Having seen that monster, I think the £1.99 piece of silicone tube with a split near one end and a nail in the end works just as well. Fit over bleed nipple, drape end into a container of brake fluid and just pump the brakes with the pedal. All tools needed fit easily in a toolbox - one bleed nipple spanner, one bit of hose.

Changed the alternator belt because it was getting loose and all the shims were on the outside of the pulley.

  3. Alternatively, pump system up, crack open nipple, bleed while reading newspaper

Down at the local posh supermarket hunting for past sell by date scraps the masters don't eat. We got venison once. :)
Some strawberries and raspberries would be good, nice cheese, who knows? I'm just driving, I don't "do" shopping, I have crew for that so it'll be a surprise. :)

    that's ace!
    Heater cables? No problem.
Derusting the underside? Plenty of room.
Underseal stuff? Slap it on with ease.
    Fantastic.

Changed the servo vacuum pipe at the back near the engine...missed it when I did the servo end.
Also, found a piece of fuel pipe in the breather system that I'd never seen on any chart....on the right on the pipework that goes to the 3 way joint in the centre.
Was hidden away as it went through a metal pressing...true to form, it crumbled when touched.

That's because the diagram everyone refers to is arze about face showing that connector on the left where there isn't one.

Replaced a couple of jubilee clips that were missing from the ends of my heat exchanger bellows. Was lying underneath the van when the monsoon / hurricane struck. I have wet feet.

Does anyone have a photo of the nasty asbestos collars that old heater bellows supposedly have? I have a nasty feeling about mine, but didn't have my phone with me to photograph them, and didn't want to get out to get it in the torrential rain storm.

  10. They’re in the ends of the concertinas. You can get metal ones, but as bus and beetle owners haven’t been dying in their millions over the past 50 years, I’d suggest they’re relatively harmless if you have got them.

They looked like some kind of white stuff (not plasticky) around an old metal collar. I have a feeling I know the answer, but I was just interested to know if there was a link or a photo kicking around TLB. I think I bought some rubbery replacements years ago, but never fitted them as the idea of 'rubber' and 'hot metal heat exchangers' didn't sound ideal either.

  12. The white stuff is kind of bonded white asbestos.

My plain metal collars work fine. Wouldn't have thought rubber would be very good.

    Smell of petrol cornering ?

Absolutely pelting it down with rain

The breather hose under the spare wheel well...

And the replacement hose is too hard. So after a brief struggle with it in a multistorey carpark for shelter in Clifton Down Bristol.. leave replacement half on but buy some new in Halfords tomorrow ..

    R9 hose ...

Fitted two new breather hose joiner pieces - the one on the right had cracked as well as the one on the left..

Starting tackling the little emerging rusty bits.

  20. Tested the webasto heater.
Had a '2 failed ignition attempts" fault code.

Went through the reset routine - pull fuse when powered up etc.

    Replaced fuse, tried again.

    Same again.

Slammed the door, called it a PITA.

    Normal Sunday really.
