  1. Fuel? Pump connections dropped off? Battery level too low?

  2. Probably fuel or air in the fuel line - battery is new, so I'll check exhaust outlet isn't blocked first then scrambled under the bloody thing to check the pump etc.

  3. If it's been a while, may well be that the fuel line's drained down. My Ebers will log a fault if it can't pump enough fuel and light after a few attempts.

  4. Do you have to prime the line through?

  5. I did when I installed it, on the advice of an Ebers installer. Either fill the fuel line with a syringe or (easier) find the pump connections and keep dabbing 12V on them to pump a bit "by hand". As you know, the metering pumps can't shift much fuel, so first time around may not have got juice up to the heater before the ignition sequence times out.

  7. Cheers.

One of the Webasto guides says something similar - to loosen the fuel line at the heater end and then run the heater to see if fuel flows, but Ive got to take the belly pan off to get to the fuel line under the heater.

It does take a lot of priming to get fuel feed up there, on my boat it took maybe 4 or 5 start cycles at first to get it to prime. But it has kept that prime for 22 years..

I ended up fitting very heavy battery feed lines to the heater on my boat, its not the age of the battery but the state of charge. I used to get maybe 3 starts out of a charged 65AH battery before my Airtop 2000D decided the battery was too flat.

Got a couple of days off this week so pressed on with the refurb of the bench seat base.

I have repaired 4 broken springs and moved them around to try and spread the load. Not perfect but they seem to be holding and ‘springing’. The seat doesn’t creak or sag like it used to.

Also fitted a new horsehair seat mat with a bit of spring protector material.

Mrs S did most of the cover replacement while I had my weight on the frame. Pretty chuffed with it..

That looks lovely mate. Do they have the same evil stabby attachments as the beetle rear seats?

They do indeed. They’re quite vicious little things.

I’ve never been to a pro upholsterers but I bet they swear a lot :)

Had my leisure battery charger make a pop noise and trip its mains breaker. And it went pop when I reset the trip. Turns out its the MOV surge suppressor fitted across the mains input has had enough. Took the suppressor out for now and ordered a new one.
Obviously there are a few mains surges round here..
