Washed it. Took it for a run.

 

Did some more brakey things. Original m/c boot has a new lease of life after a soaking in silicone spray for a day or two - really does work. Reservoir and other bits scrubbed up well. Bought a new upper reservoir, as the original was bulging ominously after a pressure test .



Split my brake proportioning valve. Just as well, as it was full of slimy brown muck.

Fascinatingly clever things. You wonder who dreamed them up.

 

I’ve looked at the diagram, and read the description twice. I’m still none the wiser as to how it works.

Went back together ok, thankfully.

 

Nobody knows...The manuals start to explain it but then kind of drift into DON'T MESS WITH IT.

 

Not really that much to mess with. You take it apart. You put it back together again...

 

Gone camping

 

Changed the breather system from venting to the atmosphere, or road, to a proper catch tank and PCV. Also made a plate to block off the preheat hole in the tinware. More details to follow in the Lizzie Lu thread in the Show Us Your Ride forum for those interested.

Oh, and did the oil and remote filter. Was very clean as Lizzie Lu hasn't done many miles but probably had some petrol in it from the leaky carbs. Couldn't find the oil I thought, erroneously, I'd bought so ended up using a blend of ends of 20W/50 tins...

I have to get my windscreen washer sorted out. I think I need a non-return valve and maybe a new pump and pipework. I was just wondering what you had suggested previously?

Waxed it.

 

Put in a bit of extra support for the new leisure battery as it’s a bit of a beast at 30kg
