Nay lad it's ply, you saw glue on the peeling pic that made it look like chipboard. The lightweight ply itself is good stuff. The covering looks identical.

Given VW's leaky T5 poptops and windows, I would expect anything not exterior or marine grade to go the way of all damp interior plywood in a T6 too..

Interesting, where is the equivalent of the M-plate decoder ?. All I know at the moment is we bought it in Whitstable in Kent in 1986. And it runs so smoothly .. like a sewing machine..

The cores of the mains lead are PVC insulated but old, red and yellow. I think the yellow wire is live as it goes through the pedal to the motor...
No earth, it will run on 25-75Hz AC or DC according to the spec plate.

Well the fridge won’t be budging even a mm now.
That’s my folding table tucked behind the bulkhead. Still room to slot a 20mm thick weighing scale down that gap...which i’d have tested today if I got sent the right ones

OH crikey Mike i thought your sewing machine was a real old one, like the one i have just sold ..it being 1930's .

It has a letter then 7 numbers on a brass insert on the iron base plate of the machine ...just under hand wind wheel .
I sold two other electric sewing machine 2 months back they being dated 1950 and worked a treet .

I'am not a sewing machine collector it's just i have inherited them , and have moved and they needed to go . Caroline has a much more modern one . I think the 1930's ones had similar numbers .

The old hand spin one according to the plate was purchased Gourock which made sense as y grandparents lived there in the 30's

I touted some welding work on the crewcab last year.

I got no takers in my locality which catalysed me into having a go myself (in places you can’t readily see - my welding is not great)

We’ll blow me ! I had a phone call today from one of the welders I spoke to, looking for some work !

I think I’m going to take him up on a couple of visible and skilled bits.

Hopefully it’s a win for both of us

The machine I have SN EK669140 is only one of a batch of 25000 made September 1955.. its the modern post WW2 version.. 20200511_202415.jpg
It came with several complex attachments. But it spends most of its time with sailmakers thread and canvas ..

What's the other 20 1k stand for ...can't remember if it was the lettering or a number that gave it's purchase area .
Also someone told me that singer is an American company ...i have always thought they were very British ..hope iam wrong .

  12. Don’t let the secret out or everyone will be round mine at Techenders before dinner

I have actually wondered if a pad could be added for ironing - which is likely and errant thought, considering i’ve used an iron all but 5 times probably!

The K suffix means made in the Scottish factory. Singer was an American. One of the first mega-rich.

Still collecting bits to refit the solar panels
Some wire, some screws and some rivnuts and some neoprene gasket sheet for sealing the fixing bolts still to come.

Going for fixing panels with PU glue and screws to aluminium box section extrusion and then bolting the ends of the extrusion to the roof with rivnuts with rubber gaskets and occasional rubber feet

Still lighter than glass panels. And can be removed for cleaning.

All because it was nasty the way the paint failed with constant wetness where grime and slime collected under the panel

  20. This is normal. Make a list of all the things you're going to do in a day. With distractions (and lunch/making tea), you'll do 25% of them, if that.
