    Me too.

  3. I'm sure I've seen them dangling from the overhead conveyor in a Beetle-building vid. How else would you move scores of gearboxes around the factory?

They may well have done but its function on the car is to support a wiggly wire bracket which is often missing due to corrosion. You don't need it:thumbsup:

  6. Spruced up the thermostat flaps I bought, for imminent installation, a few years ago.

Hopefully they’ll get used some time this century.

I completely agree. Don't know how I did without one.

  11. Great for sharpening the lawnmower blade as well
I thought mine was good until I bought some decent quality belts for it and now I think it’s great.

What belts do you use ? I get the screwfix ones which are ok but invariably snap at the join too early.

  13. I bought a bulk load of blue ones of a seller on eBay.

  14. I use the Screwfix ones, and they've been fine. AB Tools, whoever they are. Are your belts in the right way round?

Yes, right way round. To be fair they last pretty well….I don’t force the tool. It’s just that they break when there is still plenty of abrasive left. I think they are the Titan ones made in Holland ?

Annual gearbox top up and a few grommets to prevent cable chaff.

Cleared the gearbox breather last year - clearly worked as visual weep has stopped and oil completely full, none needed

Moved house in it. Down to Southampton along the steaming M3. It’s holding up ok in this heat but I’m fine about it being 50mph limit through all those roadworks!

  18. Removed the dash top and repainted it. I hope that getting it back in is easier than getting it out.

Repaired the hazard switch. Just a fuse, phew….

My trouble is that having gone slowly along the M3 , I get to the M27 and speed up going over towards the top of the hill at J8. So by the time I leave the motorway it's got hot again..

  20. I got a ticket there a few weeks ago. Be aware the cameras are active in the 50 zone...
