    Condescending, patronising
You did not post on the subject previously on this forum - it is very lazy not to post a link to your off-forum post. So say sorry to Lila and play nicely now, will you?

To what subject do you refer? And so far as your reference to “previously” is concerned, can you enlighten me as to previous to what.
I do not know how to post a link, this is not lazy, lacking in knowledge perhaps.
I sent a pm to another long-standing member of this forum on the subject of struts some time ago, I did not use a link to my article , he thanked me and did not accuse me of being lazy. You appear to have changed your view about my comments being blatantly rude to the lesser charge of them being condescending and patronising ,this from your third party viewpoint.
Lila hasn’t come out to play, are you her big brother?

You won't succeed in winding me up chap. Being patronising and condescending is blatantly rude. I'm bored with you now and won't be replying to any more of your posts. Perhaps you'd be better off sloping back to your old forum - unless they've booted you out for lack of manners there too. Tata.

Hi Dave. I found the site and have seen your report about fitting the gas struts. This is just what I need, for the same reasons as you by the sounds of it. And excellent report and something I'm going to do. I was concerned about several things : which struts to get (strength etc),what brackets /fixings are needed and where to site the brackets but you have covered all these points. Many thanks from the Meltman.

  9. Seem to have missed all the sport......I've been so tired and lazy recently.

Thanks to all that put a good word in........and to think I was only trying to help! Lila has Nitro gas struts from SGS and they work just great.

    PS. My grammar ok?

Thank you for your link to SGS, I've had a look and will be getting some struts. I have to check out the bus to see exactly where the brackets fit next time it's out of the garage. Regards from the Meltman.

    Thanks Meltman,

I was trying to assist. Some seem more intent on retaining their leading post count on this forum.

I am sure that anybody can search “ gas struts “and locate SGS. I believe you were looking for more information and I believe my directing you to my article (albeit without link) provided that. SGS were unhelpful. Their site shows a picture of a Westfalia (green) and it’s description says to replace a specific part no. As far as I am aware the original Westfalia conversions did not have struts. I rang SGS and spoke to their tech dept. They didn’t know the content of their web site. They didn’t know original conversions had no struts.I asked about the photo of the strut on the site appearing next to the photo and asked about the required end fixings.I was told that this was a generic photo of a strut and may or may not be the one corresponding to the part number specified! I asked if they had any specific drawings for fixing positions, they didn’t . I asked which brackets they recommended and was given the incorrect advice and was supplied with incorrect weak fittings which bent. photos and correct part numbers appeared in my article. It took a while before SGS accepted their error and replaced the parts. SGS have still not altered their website. If this was good technical and customer service by SGS then I am mistaken.
Perhaps my ire at Lila in merely posting a link to SGS was as a result of my experiences with them, had Lila read my article then I doubt he/she would have posted a simple link ( or I would hope not) hence my reply. I may be mistaken but I think Lila has a pop or side hinged roof as opposed to front hinged.
Anyway thanks Meltman , I apologise for you finding yourself somewhat as a “piggy in the middle” I hope you sort your struts out
