one pound fourty one point nine a litre of unleaded is costing me Why the hell is fuel cheaper down south
I just do what everyone else seems to do.That is, delude myself into believing that it can achieve over 25mpg. If my brain believes that ive managed to achieve the improbable (something vw could never achieve wth their r&d)' then if anyone asks it doesn't feel like I'm lying With an 1800 with a fully laden westy interior, roof rack and trailer, heavy right foot and a pair of thirsty dells I can get 28mpg out of mine no problem
Driving a bay costs about the same as really going for it in the pub, but as you can't do both at the same time, not a problem.
Last time I topped mine up I reckoned that I had got 12mpg! All city driving but since then I have discovered that there is an issue with some of the fuel pipes and the bottom of the fuel tank "is a bit wet". Hopefully the cost of the repairs will be offset by fuel consumption improvements although a bit of man maths might be needed.
At end of day cost of petrol is similar to cost of Pringles. Sometimes they are £1 a tub and sometimes nearly £2! However if I need Pringles I'll pay the asking price.
Ive found consumption, is very changeable, pending the type of use, i also think , i get more mpg using branded fuel Esso BP Total etc. As for cost,134 cheapest 144 dearest round here anyway. The reason i think its cheaper down south?? is coz it all uphill from here ) ). My first car i worried about putting £2 worth from empty in incase it overflowed :, no cut off valve them days either
I can't even fill my work van using pay-at-pump because it is £99 max and that ain't enough. I've started doing half tanks so I'm not paying to carry the other half a tank around with me.
i agree on the quality of petrol ...some garages with my modern 2lt and my engine sounds dog rough and petrol consumption goes down .......i find my car likes bp best ...average is 1.39 to 1.40 in east london ...i have seen 1.34 down near sydenham ...thought the old flux capaciter had kicked in and thru me back a year .....do you remember when ya mate gave you a fiver for a evening driveabout and it lasted days ...bless our goverment
I remember filling my mini up at 60p litre, shows how young I am. In 14 years it's more than double, £1.42 litre. If you want to work your brain you can see it hasn't inflated massively over that time but still hurts to see £70 a tank (on my car). To work out my mpg on the bus I pull into the garage, fill up the tank till the gun clicks. Don't even look at the pump, go to the till with my trusty slice of magic plastic, don't listen to the spotty youth behind the counter, bash in my pin and leave. That way when I'm cruising down the road I'm happy in the knowledge my bus is doing 69mpg.
