  2. Done a bit more on the rear quarter panel again today, also bare metalled the front and the rest of the roof,
Just need to clean up the inside of the gutters and the lip around the pop top hole and it will be ready for primer.

Looking good fella. What are you primering with?

  7. Are you using celly, 2k or the new fangled waterbased stuff?

I'm toying with going for epoxy primer on the outside, followed by high build and then standard 2k but am not quite decided.

  9. Using 2k etch primer, then max Meyer 2k high build.
I'll flat it with 240 grit then need to figure out what I'm doing with regards to paint

  12. Was going to see about getting the roof in primer today, but the weather was a bit iffy, so couldn't get the bus out.

Instead I started on the passenger door.

  13. From yesterday, got the inside of the door wiped down

And a thin coat of etch

Then got the roof tidied up and masked off. Also put brown paper up on the ceiling to minimise dust

Are you farming out the top coat? If yes, get a date before you flat it, or even consider letting the painter flat it. Definitely discuss this with your chosen one, painters are understandably nervous of painting surfaces they didn't prep themselves. :)

  16. Not entirely sure at the moment. I'll do the inside myself, then see how that goes.
I'll just primer the outside and leave it until i decide.
What grit should i flat the primer with?

Yeah i know if i take it to a paint shop they will just paint it and i wont have any guarantees or anything. Thats fine with me :)

  19. cool, hopefully i can get the front ready for primer by next weekend. then in primer the weekend after, then its just the sliding door and engine bay.

there's a little few bits i'm not 100% happy with that will need a bit of fettling.

    also...

how many coats of primer do i need to do?

Depends how good the filler is. You may have areas that would benefit from more coats, you can put more on those without doing a whole coat and/or thicker as you go during a coating.
