  1. Christmas day and found am excuse to work on the bus!!

After fitting the red9 beam (don't know if I mentioned it!) I hadn't reattached the heating pipe securely enough. Driving to the in laws was very chilly.

Pulled it into the father in laws garage tonight and added a bit of foil tape and some tywraps, where it was loose.

Much more powerful air coming out of the ducts now, should make the journey back in time to Norfolk tomorrow much more comfortable

  2. Nice one, working on the bus on Christmas day. Don't think I could swing that one, though I was allowed to go out and get in it today.

Only so I could get some matches to light the candles on the dinner table :D

  3. Nothing like telling a tale of woe of cold feet and ears on the journey tomorrow to allow it!!

  4. Fitted new weather guard sticky foam strips to my front fresh air flaps tonight. Hopefully it will cut down on the constant cold trickle of air we get.

  5. Where did you fit them too?
The flaps at the front, or the ones in the cab?

    I need to do mine.
    What did you use?

  6. The flaps at the front on the outside behind the grill.

I used foam strip called storm gaurd.

Will try and do you a pic

To can get from b and q and the like.

  8. And did you fit it to the flap or the surround?

  9. Took each flap off and fitted it to the flap, it originally had something similar anyway that gas long since dried out and crumbled off, I went around the edge of the flap first and then filled the middle as well as extra insulation and soundproofing.

When you take a flap off you will see where the glue was and it is pretty self explanatory.

  10. I think my Ernst exhaust has got something loose inside, have noticed a funny rattling when driving along and had a listen when I got home earlier. Certainly sounds like something is loose.

Anbody know what a standard type 4 exhaust looks like inside?

  11. As I will be away for a few months at the beginning of the new year I have decided to SORN the bus to save a bit of money and it also means I can crack on with a few bits of tarting up while it doesnt need to be kept roadworthy.

front roof rack needs to come off and be repainted as it is currently rubbish.

may even have a go at fitting the solar panels

Did you by any chance go for a drive around noon today? I had to pull off the a17 for 3 hours and wait for the wind to die down a bit.

  13. No unfortunately not. Won't be able to drive it again until 1 April now so will let you know then.

Today would have been the ultimate test, I almost blew over when I got out and sitting in the layby it was shaking about more that when it's driving! I let the handbrake off and it blew along! The vent in the poptop has really strong springs - i opened the windward 1/4light and the pressure blew it open!!!

  15. Wow that does sound bad.

  16. Removed he roof rack today, its taken a few years but I need to sand down the cock up of me putting the paint on too thick.

    Started it using 180 grit.

Not enough time between coats I'd say.
Yes it was a bit gusty today.

  18. Yeah I think I put one very thick coat on, it skinned over on the outside and them sagged underneath it took about 2 years to harden completely and I have ignored it for the last 2 after that.

It'll be done in a couple of days hopefully

  19. What paint are you going to use?

People in london would pay handsomely for a paint effect like that if you gave it a cute name. :)
