  1. Awesome
Yes please dude i think the smoked look would suit the paravan perfectly:thumbsup:

  2. loving the work you've done - noticed you got the welding bandaid above the wheel on the interior bulkhead, the sign of a well worn van :) Love the signature as well

  3. They're yours. If you PM me your details I will get to the Post Office in the next couple of days. You can square me up once I know what the damage is.

  5. Had a late night yesterday, got all of my ply flooring cut and trial layed:

I used 6mm for the lower layer and a 9mm topper. Will sandwich a layer of laminate closed-foam underlay when I fit it properly.

Took to the opportunity to do a trial fit of the bed - slots in perfectly and the new seatbelt mounts are inch perfect:

Also couldn't resist trying out one of the interior panel cardy things I bought from Newton Commercials - porcelain green:

Need to trim the top layer of ply so that the card fits, but pleased with the look. My bus started life green, so the poptop has green stripes and I thought it would be good to tie the interior into that. Probably going to go for beige/dark green upholstery as my front seats a beige leather.

After all those cold dark winter hours getting her prepped it is nice to see things starting to take shape.

Now....just got to find that last damned leak so I can fit the floor properly and crack on.

  6. You have hit a fun stage now where it all starts to come together
    Great stuff dude

  7. Are you screwing your floor down? I dont know wether to come up through the floor or not?

  8. If your going to screw your floor down do it from underneath the bus into the floor

  9. No, I am going to leave it floating, as it will have furniture and an edge trim to keep it snug, as well as a couple of screws through the bed base. I measured it up carefully to make sure it is reasonably snug, so it isn't going to go anywhere.

I know some people like to screw then down - I recall Zed saying it was best to come up through the floor.

  13. But the Force is clearly strong in you due to the teachings of the Master

  14. Resto is looking good! I'm hoping to get on to sorting my interior soon so you are giving me inspiration!

  15. Managed to hide away from the missus for a few hours on Saturday and got a bit more done.

Still fighting an irritating leak that is stopping me finishing laying the floor.

Decided to tackle the holes under the offside trackcover with some fibreglass in the hope that this puddle is also caused by problems there rather the repaired sliding window that I had put in to replace louvre. Need to get a hose pipe on the side to see if I have cured it and then I can crack on quickly.

I bought a sheet of sound insulation sheet from Woolies, so got my heat gun out and applied that.

Then made a start on insulation, but didn't get chance to take any pics. Using foil thermawrap stuff from Wickes to insulate panels.

If the leaks are sorted then I should get the floor laid this weekend, panel cards fitted and the bed installed. Need to get the bed sorted so I can work out how much space I will have for a bespoke kitchen unit to host fridge and combi-Smev unit.

I am still thinking about where to store gas bottle - may just get it under Bluebird bed if I recess it through ply.

  16. Hi Popester63, nice to see you progressing. Did you put any sound insulation on your front/sliding doors yet ? Did you notice much difference ?
How are you installing the thermawrap ? Straight over the Woolies insulation or the back of the trim panels ?
I'm going to start my own soon and am interested to see how others do theirs.

  17. Hi Lofty,

The front doors and slider (and the tailgate) already had this sound deadening stuff on them. It does seem to deaden the panel very well. I am fitting the thermawrap right over the sound proofing. Bought some foil tape and sticking it right over the top of the woolies stuff.

I am going to use closed cell foam (laminate underlay) sandwiched between my plywood floor (when I am sure it is dry) and will probably use that over the top of the engine bay as well with a sheet of ply on top.

  18. Thanks for coming back to me on that. Sounds like a good cost effective answer.

  19. Had a pretty productive day today in between showers:

    Finished off insulating behind panels:

Then finished ply flooring, firts lower layer of 6mm Marine Ply, trimmed into recess in cargo bay:

Then a sandwich layer of laminate floor underlay:

Then got the top layer 9mm Marine Ply down on top of that:

Fitted over wheel tub cards as they need to go in before I slot the bed in:

Then fitted batten/bed-support - squeaky bum time drilling through the engine bay knowing the petrol tank is in there but took it steady and used the depth guide on my drill. Once that was done I used more of the laminate floor underlay to insulate behind the bed:

Now just need to bolt Bluebird RnR together. Bit of a faff to do solo, but should have it in tomorrow morning and hoping to alsoe get Madmstz tiles laid.

Wife nagging me to sort out foam/vinyl and curtains so wil be calling Delilah on Monday. Hope her order book is not too long :)

  20. Who was I kidding thinking I could fit the bed in the morning - took most of the day. Nice piece of kit but being full width there is naff all clearance so I had to whip it out a few times as I uncovered various problems in the way I has assembled it:

and the real reason why I started this refit:

That will keep the Missus happy ;) Still need to work out EZBak lever - no idea how that is meant to work.

Then just had time to practice my newfound skill of fitting door cards - nice and easy does it:

Then off for my weekly cooking penance - I get to make a Sunday roast.

Frustrating I didn't get more done, but it is heading in the right direction.
