Miss Daisy's Light Restoration

  1. Are you going to any shows or meet ups this year? I would like a show round haha

  2. Thanks Tom - just finishing up the buddy seat and we have whipped out the old top locker to use as a template, so hopefully nearly there. Magnus, the guy doing the work is a real craftsman - it is hard to describe the quality of his workmanship.

Looking forward to seeing your pics - you have made real progress with the amount of work you had to do. Mine has been a bit more leisurely. Having the fridge working is ace :)

  3. Going to be a bit of a struggle for time this year. I have just jacked in my job after working for 25 years for various US software companies. Got fed up with it, realised I didn't enjoy it so am setting up my own gardening business. Nice to be putting in the hours on my own account.

Great thread, great bus. Just read the lot. Hope to see it out and about one day. :)

  6. Cheers CollyP. I love the various resto threads and found that there weren't too many that covered interiors (especially full width beds), so thought it might be fun to track the project through.

The furniture is just about done - buddy seat is in as well as top locker. I have a few bits of tidy up to do and will then post some more pictures. Struggling to find the time to get to it, would say it is now 95% complete though.

  7. Furniture is all finished, so it is down to me to finish things off.

Magnus did a great job and it came out exactly as I has hoped. All of the doors have hidden latches, which kept the look very clean and 'woody'.

The top locker went in very nicely and is a useful storage space for clothes and stuff:

The gas locker, takes two Gaz size bottles - Calor were just too tall. Going to run hob and Propex off one and use the other for my outside cooking stove and as a backup for hob/heater one. Also space for tools/oil in this locker:

The buddy seat hides the loo (My bladder is feelings its age :():

So, nearly done - need to get some use out of the old girl now

Awesome you must be well chuffed!

  9. Yes, it is nice to see the layout I had in my mind through those cold winter days when I started finally materialise. Hoping to get some good use out of her as I have spent way more than I ever imagined when I bought her and way more than I would get back if I sold - not that that is an option :)

  10. Looks b.e.a.utiful mate go enjoy it!

  11. Finally got to the point where Miss Daisy's refit is just about 'a wrap'.

@matty worked some more of his electrical magic yesterday and I finally got my Propex fitted today - pig of a job on a lowered bus with a gravel drive that is unsafe to jack and no ramps (as I found out :)). Spent ages trying to work out best location under bed and finally opted for the slope as it was the best way to get the exhaust and intake pipes routed out. Nice and toasty - just in time for some autumn trips.

I have used a Truma valve to tee the gas supply off to the Smev ring and decided to use gas hose rather then try to get too flashy with my pipe bender. I have a couple of gas drop-out vales that I will be fitting (one in gas locker and one under bed):

Got hold of a couple of nice LED spotlights which are fitted to either side of the top locker:

and, for a bit of disco bling fitted a green LED strip across the top of the kickpanel beneath the bed:

Been a fun project and I am really pleased with how it has turned out. Back to day-to-day wear and tear jobs now - popping a couple of new CV joints on drivers side to try to finally try and eliminate the knock-knock-knock that follows me around - particularly on trips to Exmoor for some reason
