Nice one but you don't really know that for sure do you, he would'nt have been meeting anyone ( Normal ) unless he was getting paid to do so, we've all come across supposedly famous people in our lives and to be honest most of them are dicks in real life, as for you calling anyone who makes a joke about it Wan*ers  Soz I din't make a joke about it myself but they must've forgot that you knew him ;) like Ricky said we seem to be getting more and more of this recently and it reminds me of a thread last year about alzheimer's that was pulled because they knew someone that had it o_O like we all don't know someone that's ill or been ill, or died recently, it's called life, I reckon the mods need to reinvent the rules on here so anyone with a little sense of humour don't get castigated coz people like you are really getting on my tits and ruining this place

I'd agree if the jokes were put up because they were funny. They're always put up simply to get a reaction though. (which they do, so from that point of view the joker wins).
The give away is that the joke always closely follows a post from the same person along the lines of "can someone poke me when its safe to post a joke" etc etc.
I know people won't agree and that's up to you, but to me it gets very boring.

Yeah but you know Rickys a Wonder and I know Rickys a Wonder but we don't need people who mingle with the stars to tell us ;)

  6. Don't drag me into it ;)

But I agree with your sentiment. It's like a fecking playground on here sometimes, those who border line troll for the sake of it, and then those that are shoved so far up there own arses they can see their back teeth.

The lowest common denominator in the former seems to be IQ, or lack of.

The lowest common denominator in the latter is a decent IQ, that and the thesaurus stuck in their throat and the need for their 'intelligence' to be thrust upon everyone for the sake of it.

Why someone would wish to walk around telling sick jokes about a guy in a coma is beyond me.

Why anyone else would wish to defend that is further beyond me.

I'm all for a laugh but the twits are taking over the asylum in order to score some weird point, then retreating to their caves to whine about moderators

  7. I've also met him on 3 different occasions, once before he came to F1, though I've never been a die hard fan of his. He came across as very honest and very friendly, no heirs and graces. I never once had the feeling that he was being nice because he had to be, more because he wanted to be. I've met a great number of F1 racers over the years and he was very genuine. I hope for his sake and that of his family that he makes a full recovery.

  9. A mate of mine works for the Mercedes F1 team as transport manager and says Schumacher is the nicest bloke he's met in F1.
A couple of years ago my mate was at Monza setting up the hospitality unit a couple of days prior to the GP when he got tossed the keys to an AMG C-class and was told to go to a private airfield to pick Schuey up.
When he arrived Schumacher greeted him and then took a good look round the car and said " Aah so this is the new C-class, do you mind if I drive us back?"
Suffice to say my mate didn't like to say no....

converted panel owners are obviously in the lower percentile....crew cabs and pick-ups fail to register on the scale;)

I'm enjoying my time as a mod - I think saying 'yes' must put me in the lower percentile too. Owning a pick-up must give the game away.

Back on topic - general consensus seems to be that jokes about a guy in a coma are in bad taste. I'd agree with that. We shouldn't have to mod them, the people posting them maybe should consider if they are appropriate.

Some of the guys at work met him in his Jordan F1 days as they use our products, they also met Ralph too - they also said similar, Colin, they thought he was a total opposite of his tv persona & enjoyed working with him.

I sincerely hope he pulls through all this!

I had to accompany a friend to hospital to see her brother after a car accident. His head was at least twice the size it should have been and he was also in an induced coma. 3 weeks later he was out, had another car and was once again driving around like a fool. Some people never learn.

Depends how much he's bled into his brain, what damage if any has been caused, and in which parts of the brain. He could make what would seem like a relatively good recovery, but have a different personality, mr nice or mr nasty and all points in between. I'm not into F1 but I wish him well.

Did I ever tell you I met Cliff Richard once....

  16. To be honest the joke was Marmitee but not as bad as Sheilsy's. You need a new scriptwriter mate!

Back on topic and it seems to have gone a bit quite.

    Shamelessly stolen from twitter

    Doctors press:

When Michael arrived at CHU a scan revealed not only swelling of the brain but also a build-up of liquid inside the skull. This was the reason behind the emergency operation. This helps with swelling inside the skull, but the swelling itself can reduce the amount of oxygen getting to some parts of the brain and that can cause serious damage. The doctors said that there had not been a second operation and did not envisage one. This is a positive sign.

However, they did say that Michael is still in a critical condition and that they had discovered lesions on both sides of the brain.

“The doctors won’t tell you more because they can’t tell you more,” Payen said. “They are working hour by hour. We cannot tell what the outcome will be yet. It’s too early to say what is going to happen.”

Part of the treatment being used is to induce hypothermia, lowering the brain’s demand for oxygen, which reduces the volume of blood flowing into it. This can also reduce the swelling.

The immediate danger remains as the swelling can last several days. After that the doctors will reduce the anaesthesia and see what happens when Michael wakes up. It is only after that they will be able to ascertain if there are going to be permanent effects of the accident.

    Thanks Ricky

Waiting on full report from former F1 doc but heard he had another op and he seems to be slight better.

I expect over the next few weeks there won't be a huge amount of news. Or until he either wakes up (they wake him up) or...
