But if you are in a position to have a critical influence on government policy and you stand to gain substantially as a result of your input, it becomes a conflict of interest. If I were a vaccine salesman, I'd make sure the stuff I was pedaling was a repeat prescription; there's no long term profit in a cure. If you delve into the treatment of stomach ulcers in the UK, for example, the pharma industry did their utmost to suppress the research that confirmed that a simple course of antibiotics and bismuth would effectively cure the vast majority of 'clinically diagnosed' cases of stomach ulcers. They did this on account of the fact that the drugs they manufactured to treat the symptoms of 'ulcers' were one of their most profitable lines. Turns out most 'clinically diagnosed' ulcers were nothing more than a bad helicolbacter pylori infection. No pain, no gain as they say...
Sent to a WhatsApp group I’m in. It didn’t conform to current minimum COVID guidelines so I modified it for correctness - wouldn’t want to give off the wrong impression and all that: P.s. I don’t drink myself. But I’m getting through an awful lot of coffee beans these days.
There are hundreds of companies trying to find a vaccine, or other option that would alleviate deaths or the worst symptoms. Take a gamble on the one you think will be first to the post, if they ever actually get there. Hence, why I don't think its actually that relevant which company Witty holds shares in.
How does a policy of asking people to stay at home and not spread Covid19 benefit a someone with shares in a company that 'might' develop a vaccine?
Tbe race is to produce a vaccine while there is still a market for it. At some point it is likely to have either it will have mutated into something more harmless or enough people will have "had' it for a vaccine to be of limited use. This is fodder for those that think the reaction to covid is over the top. Maximising the potential vaccine market requires that people are scared.
Well i'd say Boris and co have succeeded if that was their aim. My mother in law has not come out of her house since March and is scared out of her mind to do so. Goodness knows what going on in her head but she believes everything she sees on the idiot lantern. She is about 70 and I'd say slightly at risk as she's had vascular surgery on her noddle. All the same she's probably doing herself more harm getting depressed sat in the house than she would be going for a walk around the village.
It appears that you might be able to catch it again. The guy my youngest son does his research with had it earlier in the year but came down with some symptoms last week and has now tested positive. It could be a false positive of course. On the mutation front it could mutate into something more dangerous as well.
Totally agree. It has gone totally silent about the accountability of this whether or not it was released on purpose. I think the west knows the new Chinese dictator is an unpredictable piece of work to say the least.
The communist party are gangsters in suits print money out hand money out to poor countries on projects infrastructure and yes Chinese companies get the contracts and they always go over budget so the poor country has to borrow more money until they default on the loan and then the poor country has to face the consequences handover a natural resource, commodities like oil, gas, coal, fish The new china investment is Iran thats good for china and its a slap in the face to the USA and the rest of democracy. I hope the world stands up and fights them.
Good for you. Get everything you own with the label “Made in China” on it and throw it in the bin or take it to the dump. Best get started Geord. Let us know how you get on, that is assuming whichever device you were going to let us know how you’ve got on isn’t made in China or has Chinese components. If that the case send smoke signals
