What about the other two screw lugs above those two - they look wider apart.

  2. Have you still got a David Cassidy poster? Be honest.

They are, but I assume the pedal has to fit between all four, and then the bar apparently secures the cover diagonally from behind?

  9. You could cut the bus peddle down so it’s narrower

  10. I used to love the Dukes of Hazard when I was little :) Can't help with the pedal, sorry. Have you called VW heritage's help line?

  11. ^^this. You don't need to cut the whole pedal, just make a couple of slots where the screw bosses are cast on the Bigfoot with a hacksaw and/or file. It's only a millimetre or 2 that needs taking off:thumbsup:

I wouldn't, you'll be cutting chunks out of the folded down sides of the pedal which give it strength. The best place for a big foot pedal is that shelf in your garage/shed or over Snotty's fence. I would guess I came across half a dozen or so when I was a bus fixer, to a man they were loose and flapping about or sliding up and down the pedal. It's always been a problem to which the obvious solution is to remove them!

Ferkel is German for piglet, so anglicise it to get firkle and what do piglets do? They rummage around looking for things. Another word for firkling is snotting (use of the snout to firkle) and someone who does this could be described as snotty.

I admit this is what I was thinking: having looked at the throttle pedal I don't want to cut chunks out of it - so I started looking at replacement pedals that I wouldn't mind cutting into.... and then realised that I was being a bit of an idiot and in danger of disappearing down a huge rabbit hole of unnecessary stuff!
VWH have said they will accept the return, and I think this is the best idea.
Shame, coz I think they look smart...... but if you have to cut holes in something that works fine just to make something unnecessary fit, it seems a bit of a duff road to go down.
    *sigh*

............... I think you're setting your taste bar a bit low though these things have been around sooooooo long they're almost a period accessory...but personally, anything with the potential of tangling up the pedals is a bit fat no. I is old though. :)
