I can just about see the word Burlen on the end of the box.
Tasty price, but if it saves me having to travel with a hammer…..

(Edited a couple of times as I worked out which pump I needed…. According to the Morris Minor forum, I currently have a neg earth electronic one, as indicated by the band of black tape around the pump body. No points)
Edited again - no I don't, I have the one with points!

Yes, they click and tight ones cause rhythmic gaps in the clicking. Probably couldn't really hear it though, more likely some are just noisier than others.

  5. Might be worth persevering with the one you have on ??
Obviously something is sticking and a good clout does the job so it 'may' just need a few miles under it's belt to free up ??

Hopefully! If it starts and runs today (another short test drive after I've finished stuff that needs a 'reliable' wagon) I'll take it into work this week and try to get the 100 miles done for the first tappet adjustments etc. I'll review at that stage... if I can avoid paying out £170 I will, although the views on the Morris minor forum seems to be similar to those on here when it comes to original vs repro :)

Well, the fuel pump lasted about 2 miles again today before it conked out.
Luckily with my trusty hammer, we were on our way again in no time

  11. Doing that every few miles will get you on YouTube, next to the exploding clown cars and toppling tower cranes.

One of my mates who had sticking SU fuel pump on his series 1 landy . The fuel pump situated in a similar place to the moggys ...there was a hole in his dash panel where he could hit the fuel pump from inside whilst travelling with a stick .

Genius. Just make a hole in the glove box, and find a stick that will reach from the driving position @scrooge95

    This arrived today…..
    41CD4383-D113-4E07-95E4-6F9CDA638ADF.jpeg
    Manufactured in Salisbury,
Sold by a company in East Sussex,
Shipped to a courier company in Cambridgeshire,
And finally delivered to me, 12 miles south of where it started. I miss proper shops!

Hopefully this one will be more reliable than the Chinese repro currently fitted and failing.
It’ll be Me and the Haynes manual on Saturday… how hard can it be?

  15. You’ll be grand.

All this Morris Minor talk has rekindled a memory from my yoof.
As a lad, every time we drove into Bath (the city, not the bathing apparatus) my Dad would point out CharlieWare’s Morris Minor centre on the lower Bristol Road, he was the original
Champagne Charlie a quick Google has told me- Looks like the company are still trading but now in Bristol although I think Charlie may have resigned his Directorship as he died a few years ago.

I remember going to the Morris Minor centre in Bath to get bits for Henry back in the mid 80s…. It was an amazing place, they literally had everything to build a completely ‘new’ Morris Minor from the chassis upwards. All of Henry’s replacement panels came from there.
That really did constitute an exciting day out back then!

I can't see the name of this thread without hearing it in my head like this! :D

  18. Emily had all her wood replaced by them. I think they would even sell you a brand new Moggie, built in Sri Lanka? Maybe my memory is failing on that though.

Yes, I think Henry's wooden frame came from the Morris Minor centre (can't think where else would've supplied it) apart from his back doors as they were deemed to be good enough. They still are :)

  20. Every time I see this thread reappear I think its about vacuum cleaners.
