Good call, I did notice it had no tv aerial and we had originally discounted places with no Virgin media- I guess I'll have to get used to pikey vision then.

For months my sleep pattern has been bad from house stress I thought it might be ok tonight but no..... Woke at 3 still was 4 yesterday and 2 on Friday so eventually i may get more than 5 hours sleep.

  4. If you think there's no aerial look inside the roof space. Our aerial is there, and we saw a few other houses with the aerial in the loft instead of outside on the chimney. Makes it easier to get to if it needs repairing/replacing.

I did a quick check and our new (fingers crossed) house is in a Virgin Media area.

I noticed the pole on chimney but no aerial so doubt there is one, probably fell off and just had sky? That's an easy one anyway I got a mate who fits aerials

just out of interest what permission is usually needed to build a porch? if you look at the front door you go into a small hall then forward into a small kitchen, left to lounge, we're thinking hall into bigger kitchen (the wall is non supporting) and a porch to break up the feel of walking straight into the kitchen.

  8. a porch of 3m2,3m high and not within 2m ofhighway can normally be built without planning permission if there are no historic planning conditions on the house stopping you and its not controlled by a blanket article 4 order( unlikely on both counts due to age and pictures ive seen. however as the garage extends forward of the house, any link to this will mean it needs consent.
building regs will be needed if you remove the existing door to open it up but you could do this as a building notice and start within 48 hrs if planning is sorted.

inside is a bit of work though lol but hey ho i guess that's the easy bit.

  15. Don't worry about interior decor, any house you move to you'll want to decorate to a certain extent to make it yours. Ours was abysmal inside but we looked past that and focused on the important stuff like location, space and size of garden.

  16. That's an absolute monster of a garage. What did the previous owners have in it/ use it for?

Means you can have your three cars.

And no virgin means cheaper internet and phone bills, and if you have pikey vision like me you will save even more!!

no idea on the previous owner he died that's why it's empty, his kids are selling it.
i do like virgin though for discovery/nat geo etc but i will not have sky so i guess i'll have to get used to it.

I think most of us are looking at a massive garage first, parking second, house third.....worrying about Virgin is low on the list...can you not get most of that on high speed broadband anyway.

Now you need a van that you can balls about with in all that space!!

  19. Or just go on line search the planning history yourself on the local authority website.

We moved just over two years ago, the plan was for a rapid transformation of a house that hadn't been materially touched since it was built in the 1980s in that time I haven't don't much at all :) painted one room, have done a fair bit on the outside though.

  20. yes agreed but most historic decision notices are microfiched so will only be available direct and its the decision notice which is important;)
