Has anyone else noticed the increase in ( extreme ) right wing postings on FB?

  9. There is a huge difference between nationalism and patriotism :- patriotism is a love of country while nationalism is the love of country combined with a dislike of other countries, their peoples, or their cultures.

I am patriotic, I support England in the footy, I support our troops and I am proud to be British, but none of these things makes me better than anyone else from other countries, cultures or religions.

The levels of hatred are definitely rising, and it appears very much like we (as a country) are forgetting the lessons of the past. I'm very much aware that it could be the undoing of our great nation, which is why I can no longer feel comfortable wearing an England top or waving a English flag.

As a side note, I watched this video on YouTube today... Ring any alarm bells?

I saw that the other day. My son sent it to me on FB.

  11. Don’t know what kind of FB you’re on but mine is all have-a-go artists, school gate mums, shared gin finds and a few holiday snaps of wobbly white tummies. Twitter though - blimey. They’d never say those things to people’s faces.
However we had some bods round for dinner and one of the friend’s husbands started going on about how Tommy Robinson ‘talks a lot of sense’ and ‘we need more like him’.
Everyone just stared at him and the temperature in the room dropped a few degrees. He hasn’t been back.

Come to think of it, the Tommy test is a good one for finding out whether you’re extreme / alt-right. If you’ve got any time for the nut, you’re One Of Them.

  16. But we fly the Union Jack for other reasons/occasions etc ... if we were ALL a bit more positive about it then no one would associate it with a few nutters. In fact every morning whilst at anchor or alongside on the ship in my avatar we used to haul it up the jack staff and leave it there until sunset.
