GENERAL ELECTION... 8th of june

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by art b, Apr 18, 2017.

  1. Next you'll be telling me he didn't invent penicillin...

  2. "Membership" is irrelevant. It's voters he needs (nine million for Labour at the last election). Unfortunately for Jezza, the electorate appears to be less than impressed.

Also, not everyone who's less than impressed with Corbyn is a "Tory" (whatever that means).

  4. Of course not. The question I'm asking is - if you are a Labour supporter, which of Labour's policies under Corbyn don't you like?

  5. Taxing the country back to the dark ages?
Scrapping our only nuclear defence system?
    Wearing sandals?

I think the problem seems to be the perceived lack of leadership and his outdated anti nuclear stance. Also, he didn't really lead from the front during the brexit vote. He was so laid back about it he seemed not to care and even seemed to be for brexit privately. He just doesn't come across well John. I have been a socialist all my life, but he just doesn't come across as someone that is strong enough to gel the party and move forward in government with a positive united agenda. He also seems as if he would wilt when in the company of other world leaders. You will notice I use the words ' seems' quite a bit there, he needs to be much more assertive to convince me, maybe he will during the election?

  7. It not "policies" - whatever they might be, who knows - it's Corbyn. He's completely inept, and way, way out of his depth.

  8. He reminds me of someone who's won a competition on local radio. Name the intro to five songs and win a day as Labour Party leader.

    ^ this.

I don't see any realistic policies. I see ideals, which are fine at a rally of like-minded people, but not in reality.

  10. I remember all the slurs about Michael Foot, the donkey jacket wearing lefty, with ties to the Kremlin etc etc. The media took us all for fools at that time, treating us to endless 'personal' attacks against the guy, how unsuitable he was etc etc. Nothing about any policies or anything Serious, just focussed on image alone, worked.

These days we,re all a media savvy and we all know when we're being taken for suckers?. So the endless sandal wearing lefty personal attacks just won't 'wash' with us savvy types anymore.

Yes it's true. He also helped Henry V wallop those pesky Frenchies at the battle of Agincourt.

  15. Is he still World Cross-Country Ski champion? He said he was.

  16. I think Michael Foot, were he still alive, would be slightly mortified to be compared to Jezza ;)...

That's true too. He's such a talented and affable man I'm surprised he's not Prime Minister; what's that Paul? Oh you are the PM, gosh.

OK My first and last contribution to this incredibly boring debate.
Vote conservative. So we can carry on with the vital negotiations of Brexit without the ruinous effect a change of government would entail. Whether you like it or not, just do it!
