  1. At least you and I were watching the same race. My thoughts exactly and id said to the Mrs just seconds before that he would be off before the end of the lap!

Similarly had a couple of days and I haven’t changed my mind either…. Both aggressive, max should have had a bit more nouse to give Hamilton a bit more room on the compromised line.

Listened to the Autosport Podcast and the 5Live podcasts and they concurred too. The “driver” on the Autosport pod explained that Hamilton’s line was aiming towards a later apex and he’d be slow off the turn…. If max had run slightly wider he’d would have out dragged Ham up to Maggots! The boy needs to learn a little more racecraft.

What all agreed on was this incident is likely to have really lit a match under the championship! Mercs appear to have closed the gap with recent upgrades and Bottas has fallen into line to play support driver….

I reckon we’ll see them going side by side through eau rouge after the summer break!

Hope so, the crashes are the best bits.

shhh, all this talk about racing lines and tenths is only a front to disguise the fact that we only watch for the crashed!

And what a revelation Tamazipin (sp) has been this year!

Hungary? Just wow! Formula one skittles on the first corner. I'll say no more in case you haven't caught it on catch-up yet

And there was me thinking it would be a dull race

  7. And now Vettel has been disqualified as his car didn't have the required 1 litre of fuel on board for the post race test sample:eek:

  8. In truth it would have been dulls-ville without the iffy weather and Hamilton making an another epic comeback . There was very little overtaking mainly due to track configuration and there wasn't really enough room to pass cleanly..
Well done Orcon and Vettel, steady away wins the day

Edit ... just heard Vettel has been booted out for not having a litre of fuel left in the tank promoting Hamilton to second. Rules is rules I suppose but that's a kick in the plums especially since the race was stopped which meant an extra warm up lap .

I'm sure that there'll be an appeal on those grounds.

  10. I heard that @Barry Haynes has been trying out for McClaren. Did some pretty impressive laps, but they’re having trouble prising him out of the car. Anyone with a large pry bar, please contact them.

I think @Barry Haynes' usual lubricant for these purposes is a pound of tripe

A special mention to Alonso. The podium wouldn't have been the same without his efforts. Well deserved driver of the day

    Norris commends Alonso?!

    Cracking hour of entertaining racing.

I thought F1 were steadfast in only experimenting with the qualifying format to extend the entertainment through a weekend and we’re steadfast against a reverse grid race!!

I'd love a reverse grid race. That would make it interesting

I'd also love track sprinklers to go off at some random point in the race

So many races are parades with the current car specs. It's no wonder a lot of people are turned off by F1. Without the first corner incident it would have likely been a pretty dull race, as there's just nowhere to overtake and the track is so narrow - almost like a pit lane

  16. I gave up reading anything on social media f1 related as there so many intrenched views, but i suspect the hamilton haters are not going to have much to say on this one - he was last, and ended up 3rd on a track where its impossible to overtake, apparently.

super driving from ham and alonso.

And he's chucked £20M(?) of his own money into a foundation for equality too... no doubt there are tax breaks for that so it won't have really cost him all that but still, hat's off for putting a great deal of his money where his mouth is.

  18. Haters gotta hate , but no one take away the fact that Hamilton is a fantastic driver , look how he gets a result in a car thats nowhere as good as the Redbulls this season

Lives in Monaco I think so pays no tax.... but agreed to put £20m into a foundation, fair play. Those booing at the races is poor taste, not like he did anything wrong, if he had shunted the red bulls off and then won I might understand.

Silverstone, my view is racing incident. Mad max is and always has been to aggressive and he’s lost many points (over the years) because of it.

Let’s hope so. Well deserved second. Worse case should be either a time penalty or grid penalty. I only watched highlights, but it looked like quite a few cars stopped short on the parade lap, Williams at the pit exit.
