What they could try is like the old leman start, all the drivers at the back of the grid, all the cars are on the grid but in random order so when the lights go out they sprint for a car but they can choose any car they want so if for example Bottas is slow off the mark he may grab a Renault whereas a racing snake like Lando Norris may be able to grab a Mercedes, Max a Maclaren and by the time Hamilton has done his hair he may just make a Hass
So, its all over. Abu Dhabi was just so dull which is a shame, but the real racing was for third place in the constructors championship - well done McLaren! Who'd have thought it 2017 season - 30 points 2018 season - 62 points 2019 season - 145 points 2020 season - 202 points and third behind only red bull and mercedes.
During his interview yesterday Hamilton said he didn't feel on top of his game or feel too good after his brush with cov-id If that was the case why didn't he stand aside and let Russell have another crack, or was it pure selfishness to allow himself time to make donuts???
Yes would have been good to see russell drive the mercedes again, but tbh i don't think he'd had made as much progress as he did at sakhir. Toto said the car "wouldn't turn" in corners Five, Six and Seven, and they were running detuned so less power than previous races. Red bull also had new rear wing which seemed to make a difference too - even Albon not that far behind the mercs. No F1 until March 2021 now
Agreed, I don’t think the merc in yesterday’s trim would have flattered Russell. Ham probably was being selfish, but that’s a racers mentality.... Grosean wanted to be on track too! Still, not long until the next season - winter testing is probably 6-8 weeks away!
Alonso in screaming V10 after Abu Dhabi 2020, one lap of nostalgia allowed for us to remember how good it sounded in this 15 year old car! (Need to click watch on YouTube bar to load it)

Good move, some of these kiddies aren't so hot it turns out. I would think this was all but a done deal many months ago.
He must have been frustrated and embarrassed to be so bad in a good car with everyone knowing it. The last straw must have been George Russel cramming himself into the Mercedes and thrashing the pants off everyone as far as driving went. Perhaps it would be amusing if they had a race per season (at the end?) where those at the bottom swapped cars with those at the top through the grid. Yeah yeah, the constructors wouldn't stand for it.
Agreed, something to show what the talent through the field actually is. Maybe they don’t need to swap cars, perhaps just an end of season kart race or they have a hot lap competition in the safety car. Obviously Bert Mylander would win that and then replace Bottas.
Anyone watched "Drive to Survive" on Netflix? I haven't bothered following F1 for years, but this series is a fantastic in-site into the teams and drivers.
