Fitting external Propex/Whale heater

  1. Neat. Why the flexi bend on the front pipe?

  2. Cos couldn't do the bend in copper, i tried three times, too many different angles, it goes in that hole and across the cupboard to the propex

  3. Thought as much. Take it the bulkhead is from underslung tank feeding up to manifold then cooker and heater coming out (leccy fridge)

  4. Yep all correct.

  5. Thats what im going for. You got external connection to tank as well for cadac, barbie thing?

  6. Like that. Not seen that one before. Is it just a pushfit? Where from?

  7. Yep that is mine, im sure i got it from gas products but I can't find it now, the red bit is a cover. It's just a push fit with a collar.

  8. Cor blimey! Popped out for a couple of hours for my weekly table tennis match, gets back and you lot have added over three pages for me to digest. It will have to wait till tomorrow now though!

You may remember this @Dicky ! It seems a million years ago now...
Refillable internal gas bottle, to regulator, take off for hob (flexi) & then the vertical pipe runs through a bulkhead fitting in the floor to feed the underslung propex. I just used gas taps for isolation, Bullfinch I think.
It seemed like a faff at the time but the LPG system has saved us literally hundreds so far in leisure gas

  10. Its mostly rubbish tbh!

  11. Right, progress.... Ordered my bits from Propex yesterday (exhaust and inlet , silicon elbows and clips) arrived this morning (good service) . Had a quick play at lunch. Fitted piping and a couple of clips under van to come out on offside. Heater a lot quieter. Gets van toasty in all but a few minutes. Managed to lock it out once but had inlet and exhaust right next to each other! Likely I will carry on with install but van in for welding nastiness found on belly-pan removal next week if all goes to plan so that will stop me fitting permanently(ish). Going to suss out gas route and order a few fittings so Im hoping the weather picks up for the weekend So I can actually get some proper photos of where it is and how its ducted. Its going to have to be clipped surface across the bellypans for now but wondering whether pipes will fit over chassis rails, Think they will.

  13. What are the silicon elbows for @Dicky ?

  14. Turns the exhaust and inlet pipes through 90 degrees so as to fit in a tight space you can angle then forward, backwards or downwards to avoid chassis rails etc. Will get a pic

  15. Here we go. Looking backwards from front of heater along sill. Foreground is silicon elbow (not clipped as yet) behind that is my temporary elbow made from a 22mm copper elbow (plumbing stylee). Could have saved myself 20 quid and just stuck with the copper, more steampunk eh.

  16. Currently waiting for my parts to build a Vanorak stylee cradle within which I have decided I will probably flip the Propex so that inlet & exhaust are facing my offside meaning a straight run out to the sill:)

  17. Mine would be keeping the floor warm if i did that. Possibly, post having the underside fettled properly i might convert it to blow from the end like yours. Fine where it is for now though.
