You need he volume on an enclosed heater or it would constantly be tripping out. But, that said it would be useful to gauge how much it can be modified when I get around to it!
Those original underfloor Ebers are packed it? Standard propex is in an enclosure? There are two heaters in yours of course, I'm looking forward to seeing what's inside.
Thinking I may get my compact repaired, fitted in the external box I got off here and fit just to do the screen and nothing else. Be a good backup (am I getting carried away here). Its not worth much not working and it might be a cheap fix (you never know)
@physiopro had a problem with his whale and even when it was out of warranty they sent a replacement part our to him free of charge. He said they had excellent customer service
i'd be tempted to have a natter with one of the guys in the electronics dept. at uni....might be able to rig up some external fail-safes
Im fotunate as RS is across the road and Maplins isnt far away either. Think ive made the decision. @sANDYbAY if i dont get hold of one i will take you up on your spare please! Will also get a couple of spares myself.
Not sure how i blew this tbh but shall assume thats whatbi did i think. Watch this space. This thread is great for anyone to read that can learn by my mistakes eh!
from VZi...they do have their uses after all: Have just fitted a Propex / Heatsource 2000. Read on and save a headache! It didn't work! Despite lots of playing with the multimeter and headscratching ( I have fitted 5 or 6 of these before so not new to this at all) absolutely nowt. Rang Propex. Guy was very helpful. He calmly said "Did you connect the battery before finishing the thermostat wiring?" - I did - why not, the instruction manual doesn't mention anything about this? Turns out, that this is now a common fault, and a frequent component failure happens inside one of the tiny electrickery modules which requires you to take the circuit board out and send it to them for (free) repair. Still a pain in the tits! They haven't reprinted the 2 page instruction manual, or added a simple one line sticker to the box or fitting kit. So here's my fitting tip: "DO NOT CONNECT THE UNIT TO THE VEHICLE OR LEISURE BATTERY UNTIL ALL THE OTHER WIRING IS COMPLETED" Hope this helps. Stay hot!
Sorry to be late with any advice but have not been on the forum! I seem to remember the problem for me was the internal fuse which wasn't replaceable was 10 amp!! I hadn't put a 10 amp external fuse so whilst at techenders I had a power surge and blew the bloody thing! They replaced the board and I now have a 10 amp fuse in line which has in deed blown about twice due to power surges from electrical hook up!
Yes, if you want it pm me with your address. They might even want to add....ESPECIALLY DONT CONNECT THE BATTERY AND THEN TWIST ALL THE THERMOSTAT WIRES TOGETHER TO THREAD THEM THROUGH HOLES IN YOUR UNITS.
