Its all gone horribly wrong here. Heater has died! I didnt kill it...it just packed up. Annoyingly! (Rueing the fact ive flogged my propex now as likely its coming out and going back to whale)
Just stopped,mno fault lights, bugger all, not even a peep when you disconnect the power and reinstate it, they should run, just for a moment. Voltage ok and external fuse is fine. Its as if an internal fuse has gone or cutout has operated but its warrantied (im told) so im not opening it up and voiding that. Waiting for a response from whale just now to see if they recommend anything, otherwise i will send it to them. Sure it will get sorted, just a pia as wanted to get it all ducted and boxed in.
Oh yeh and use it.... Ah well, pride comes before a fall. Glad it didnt pack in at 1am in a sub zero gale on houndkirk moor!
From whale's technical guide: This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities.... prolly a minor circuit board component failure...the cleverer they get, the more touchy they seem to be
the propex had a fixed fuse on the circuit board when I phoned propex they said just bridge it out then made a comment how rubbish it was that it was there in the first place.
Interesting. If it wasn't under warranty ive had had the cover off it by now but as it is, and also as its a sealed external unit im a little loathe to go down that route (unless the advise it) Any idea what it was rated at?

Just had a response from Whale saying send the pcb or the whole unit. Sending the unit is big money so im going pcb but then again, if I can open it up then I might as well fix it!
I have a pic somewhere it's a black round thing with I think 2amp on it It was on a customers van they had connected the unit to the power before the thermostat or something like that

I get to strip it down and take the board out now. Yay. At least i can get some pics of wahts inside the magic box! Lol.
the propex compact, although not designed for external fitting, has common or garden silicone in certain areas, to isolate the burner section from the fan compartment....to weatherize mine, I just gunned a bead of silicone around all the casing edges, before reassembly and then sprayed the exterior with rustoleum leak seal...a rubberised paint that stays flexible....designed for external use. Fine up to temps beyond those the propex casing will ever reach....waxoyl would probably be just as effective, but worth checking the temps
