do you like football?

  1. Yep I would class myself as a petrolheaded football fan, they do mix. I must admit I have only a passing interest in the Premier League, I rarely watch football on tv except big tournaments like the World Cup or Euros, and only occasionally watch Match of the Day. However I've had a season ticket at Northampton Town for more years than I can remember and go to pretty much every home game and quite a few away too. I would much prefer to go to see a cr@ppy 4th division game live than watch a prem game from my armchair any day of the week. I must be some kind of masochist!

  2. Followed Chelsea since 1967, but love Test Cricket more!!

  3. Played for the school team, then played for pub teams till about 35 ,@35 coached local kids and managed a team ,used to be a huge supporter of Leeds United...

my enthusiasm for the game has watered down a lot...

Yes. I've been a man utd fan for 38 yrs :) I had a season tkt for a few yrs I bought off a guy working away-they were impossible to get then so it stayed in his name. My partner has shef utd season tkts so we also go there tho I'm not as bothered on a freezing midweek any more. Man utd now sell all tickets from start of season something I'd not realised until too late as before I could generally get them thru my membership.
I also played footy from age 14 and gave up about 15 yrs ago when a lifetime of chest infections rendered me a knacker!

I like watching rugby, mainly internationals, and after it takes me a while to get into football again due to their general whiney, bad manners and arrogance.

  5. I'm a football fan with no interest in cars ... I have a motor because I need one to get around.

    Football sucks ass.

  7. I would normally protest and extol the vertues of the beautiful game but i havent regularly watched football for a number of years. I used to watch my local side regularly and even had a season ticket for a few years when it became a necessity. Therin lay its downfall for me. When I could pick and chose and decide on the spur of the moment to go then I would.

Looking from the outside it seems that many football fans have an extremely low IQ rendering them incapable of independant thought leading to innapropriate mob behaviour which they justify by passing it off as a part of the experience. In my book swearing and loutish behaviour in the presence of women and children is innapropriate - and that goes for the fans as well (lol). Drunkenness prior to games should not be tolerated and disorderly conduct should be met with a spell in a cell!

Although i still class myself as a fan Im beginning to hate "supporters". Indeed they are a pain in the butt in town centres before and after games and snarl up the traffic.

I like cars and football, played regularly till I was 48 then persistent hamstring problem stopped me, also a Leeds fan but luckily it doesn't spoil my weekend if, when, they lose and I'm quite happy to take advantage when a mate offers a freebie to a Box at Old Trafford

I hitch hiked to OT in 1970 to see man utd play Crystal palace on a tuesday night. I was picked up at the end of our street by a truck driver doing a night trunk to Bolton. his name was Roger Fuller and he was a mate of my dads. he asked me where I was going and I told him Manchester. he took me and picked me up and told me he was going to tell me dad. I thought OT was up the road because my uncle had taken me to the Albion to see them play utd in 1968 and it was just up the road.

Roger never told my dad. Coincidentally I now do his job I started it as he retired and he showed me the ropes for a week. five years ago my dad was helping me move house and asked if I had been to every match I had a programme from.I said yes and he held up the palace programme. I turned red.I was 48 years of age.

    You couldn't make it up!

I reckon I have wanderlust. Hence, my want to travel, be it watching football or camping in bays. I have even followed Kiddy Harriers in between years, just to travel.

  12. I have been a Liverpool supporter all my life - since they were in the 2nd division in fact. Many of our MG club are football supporters and many hate it. Not watched Liverpool at Anfield for many years ( last time it was 5/- to get in - now it is nearer £50) but went to the pub last night to see them on TV ( with a friend I was at junior school with who is also a petrolhead!)- judging by the comments so far there is no correlation between being a petrol head and football supporter one way or another - everyone is different - which is just as well really - makes things more interesting

  13. Only on telly and only if my team wins

  14. Moms and dads always know. Because they probably done it themselves when they was younger. The younger generation, whatever decade, always think they are the baddest :)
