All the usual places seem to just sell 10mm seals.

I’ve just ordered from Simply. 75 95 12. Double seal viton. It doesn’t necessarily say it’s for an engine but is resistant to oil, petrol, diesel and hydrocarbons.

  6. The seals are just...seals. Nothing special.

I rang them today to put my mind at rest about it being suitable for an engine. They just said it should be.
It probably fits a conveyer belt machine in the wagon wheel factory or something

Been working full time during lockdown for emergencies only. Three mechanics in a double workshop with 25 ramps. Plenty space to get the van in. Also get to use the hydraulic table which makes engine out a doddle.

The advantage of the narrower seals is that it allows you to push the seal in up to 2mm deeper to clear wear grooves on the flywheel nose.

Do you think the seals supplied by Victor Reinz are special for engines?

  12. It’s just a...seal. Car designers don’t get brownie points for specifying weird and wacky stuff ;)

Living on the edge then, changing from a single to a double lip seal.

  16. Give the seal surfaces a good polish with grey Scotchbrite. They’ll look like new

The ‘Simply bearings’ seal has a much stronger spring in it. Hopefully this will be the end of oil leaks for a while

Isn't there a reason the original seals where 10mm? I don't know what it is by the way, just wondering.
