Hi all, I’m going to pull the engine out the bus to fix an annoying oil leak which I’ve had for at least eight years ever since I rebuilt it. I suspect the crank rear seal. My question is who sells the best seals. I haven’t time to keep pulling the motor every decade . The last one I fitted was a Victor Reinz. It’s a 1978 2.0 type 4. USA spec FI motor. Cheers, Vinny.
I'm trying one of these... just gone on so can't comment on how long it'll last..but viton and double lip Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Point of order. It's the flywheel seal and it's at the front. There's an o-ring inside the flywheel to seal against the crank too. As you were.
I’ll let you have flywheel seal but I’m not convinced about the front of the engine bit. It’s not a left side seal on a front wheel drive car.
Will do. I can’t remember seeing any at the rebuild and it didn’t leak before the rebuild with the same crank and flywheel
You’re right. The seal’s at the rear of the engine, but the engine’s mounted backwards. Your move, @zedders...
..make sure you get one of correct thickness..theres 10 and 12 mm ones you probably need the thicker one just measure up the lip on the block Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think you’re right. I removed the crank seal today, which was 10 mm, but the case recess is 12 mm. Can you tell me who sells the 12mm seals?
