Consultation on same-sex marriage - last day to submit your view

I honestly care not either way, but I find it odd that when following this link, MY opinion is already completed for me ? is that my opinion unless I choose to change it ? why is there an "opinion" already completed at all ??? I'm confused

Here is what is stated / already filled in for me to agree with :
Everyone should be able to get married to the person that they love, regardless of their gender. Gay marriage has public support and the government should make it into law.

Please accept this as a response to the consultation on equal civil marriage.

And to be clear, I did not write that and regardless of me agreeing or not, I do not appreciate words being put in my mouth..... on that note, I will "please fill in what you think I would do" Joke ;-)

 

Religion is something that interests me - especially in relation to marriage.

We got married in Costa Rica and were allowed to modify the vows and removed all reference to religion and getting married in the eyes of God etc ... the vows ended up basically saying - you love each other -so are legally married ....

 

Hmm, this thread's interesting. It's something which I thought was sort of banned on TLB several months ago - starting controversial threads and all that. But I'll be honest, I really miss 'em. And, hey, we're nothing more than a nice bunch of adults, that's for sure, so why not? I hope to see more. They certainly generate a lot of interest and posts and I don't see anything wrong in that.

 

I think only same sex couples should be allowed to marry.

 

I honestly can't think of anything worse than going to church for your own wedding. A wedding should be a special day so why would anyone want to go somewhere where they are not welcomed to say a few vowels??

And more importantly, how many of those that do want the right to get wed in a church are actual believers in it in the first place??

I think we should have equal rights for all, as an example, when I got divorced the court decided that my wife got custody, I reckon I have about a 0.0001% chance of getting custody............now, in the case of same sex marriages, I would expect to have an equal chance............now that's fair, equal rights for all I say, even those of us in opposite sex marriages ;-)

 

So if gay people marry, what will happen - will our institutions collapse, will it be the beginning of the breakdown of civilisation or will some people just get married???

I can't see what the problem is - live and let live!!!
