Be grateful you have the children with you. My son went through divorce 3 years ago and since then he only sees his kids every other week end and one week during the summer holidays. He misses them dearly and they miss him as well. As a grand parent I have no access rights at all and I only see my grand children very occasionally.

Kids eventually leave home, Uni etc., which is when you miss them. But boys do have a tendency to keep coming back even if its only for a year or two at a time. Can't find the bungee cord that brings them back!

It's a long time to wait but one day they'll have kids of their own. We've got two young grand sons and we enjoy them a lot more because we don't have to worry all the time about being parents.
We did get oop top, the whipper-snapper went pretty fast and barely moaned at all. But then we had to come straight back down because muggins here forgot to move his van off a pitch some grumpy old git had booked so he can sit and watch telly on hook up.

I expect his perfectly pleasant missus has given him a bollocking for being pointlessly miserable! Good news on the poo dog. lol
