Can i have your thoughts on westfalia stools please ?.

The staples holding the cloth underneath would have dulled over time i would have thought and yours look shiny and new

 

Malc, why do you think it might be a fake? I might have missed something but there doesn't seem to be any overwhelming evidence to say it is. It's got the Westy lable on and it says 19-- something. That points to the direction of it being a genuine original doesn't it? Whatever it is, we're not talking about a Rolex watch here, so it doesn't really matter. Anyway, look at the seller's response. Why would someone go to all that trouble of claiming a repo as the genuine original article? Exactly what do they stand to achive? £60? Mate, that's very cheap even for a repo. I could understand if you'd spent £500 on something worth just £50 in reality. On that basis, he's probably saying its genuine because that's exactly what it is. Like I said, I may have missed something here, and I haven't seen it myself of course, but I'm definitely swaying to the side of 'genuine'. If you don't want it then I'll give you 60 notes for it tomorrow.

Would at least get your money back if eventually get an original (if its not )

 

Leave it out in the garden for a few months so it looks like an old westy one then stick it on ebay and double your money

 

The staples on my westy furniture were still shiney after 35 years. The label staples are rusty? I think he's telling the truth. If it were my parents it would still be like new as well.

 

i have a sticker on mine ..no lable ... it all does seem to far fetched just for £60 . he could have listed it as a repro (if it is ) and still got that +

Are there any differences between og and repro ? .... a vw stamp anywhere , part no for feet etc ...

We had the same conversation ourselves as the last two posters have said. The staples around the label are rusty, which would indicate its genuine and their is no reason why the staples holding the material on can't be replaced hence looking new, what we also have to remember is that the reason these stools are so rare is because everyone just chucked them in their lofts out of the way, so it could all be totally genuine. At the end of the day you were either after a stool or you weren't and at that price you got a bargain of a stool whether repro or not. )

And as lhu says are there any part numbers stamped in it anywhere. Would of thought there would of been something.

well i inspected mine and cant see any numbers /marks or anything
