i thought that Mat - saw the others myself , the one thing i am a bit concerned about ; is the one i bought looks very similar to repro one :-

  3. But the repro ones say they're 100% identical. Who cares what you bought. You got a half price bargain whatever it was mate.

  4. Bargain, would be interested to see what the og material is under the later check stuff , my money is its a earlybay mustard non fabric vinyl

Not an expert, my new one is repro....the pattern looks the same as my interior, but haven't done the magnifying glass thing, in check.

The only thing I can see it doesn't have is a leather strap that the original had to hold it in place (on Westy Malagas, there is a small plastic d shape hoop to thread the strap through, low down in the bottom cupboard under the sink).

The original was in check cover on mine.

  8. the later check material is original just later 70`s , i read that the original 60`s cover was underneath ?? if it is late 60s it has to be mustard vinyl and early gay ... they did them all years and all covers
but a cracking buy whatever it is .... mines original and not as nice as that and is the mustard/yellow fabric ...

Hi all , thanks for the advise , it came today in all its brand new glory , my original stored in attic for 40 years Westfalia stool , here are some pics --

There is'nt any sign of a original mustard colour fabric below , no previous staple holes and its like new in every way :-

What do you think , is it a og as listed ( i don't think so but thats me ), is it a repro worth £60 or is it a false misleading listing that i should get on to him about and state i would never have vbought it if i had known it was a repro , he did go to a lot of time to explain how it had been stored in a lof for 40 years.

    i am just a bit disappointed :(

  11. i got a frame for a buddy seat i was gonna refurb and put a cover on.
    But made this instead.

  12. well 60 quid is good wether repro or not . mine has a date sticker on the base and a leather strap . what is the date on your ladel ? 60`s ? if it has never been used and 40 years old they wouldn`t have recovered it and i`m sure thats a mid 70`s fabric .. I`ll post a few pics of mine if you want ?

i saw that the other day Phil , nice one mate , are you coming to borth on the weekend of the 1, 2 ,3rd of june ?.

i was hoping someone else would confirm its a repro and help me decide what to say to the seller , should i ask for a refund , part refund , should i point him to this link and tell him he has it wrong ??.

Or should i just be happy i have a stool , although its not og as i want ?.

  15. ooooo, :(, thats a difficult one, it is certainly looking to new to be an original one.

Does it have a stored in the loft for 40 years smell to it?

Would of expected to of seen some signs of the old vinyl/ fabric being taken of or still under it if it was original.

It was cheap even for a repro one, however if its not original as stated in the ad then you have grounds for complaint and being sold a misleading product. Whether they will try to say they had no reason to believe it wasn't original I don't know. You would then need prove to show why it isn't.
