Yep.
Made bad choices myself especially when choosing places to work on my bus. Even the good places had not so good people working for them. And it’s always us that ends up paying for their ‘errors’.

Which is why the op should be looking at vans that don't need any work , and won't need any work in the foreseeable future - T2s don't fit in that category , simples !

I don't think I'm doomed to forever stumble into the den of unscrupulous fabricators/restorers!

I now know of several who can be relied on to do the work properly, so getting a vehicle that'll continue to need work at some point isn't an issue for me ... it's the sellers pitching their prices as if it never will!

Indeed, no, but then I can "back it up" as there's nothing to hide on mine .... a welded spare wheel well base is all, and some very localised back-to-metal sanding, photographed during the empty shell respray ... done six years ago and showing nothing anywhere as yet .....

The seller hasn't hidden the fact it needs some work in the area shown , it's eleven years sine restoration . ? How many of our busses hasn't got a bit of work need doing to them or have a bit of filler somewhere even if we dont know it .
Give the seller and buyer some credit,they both know the score and its best buyer views and uses negotiation skills he may get a bargain ,or simply pass on the bus .but it looks a nice bus that needs a bit of work like 100 percent of all of them

True, but bodywork's a way off yet ... I think the mistake people make is thinking the mechanical side is "simple" "less to go wrong" and therefore doesn't need regular servicing

 

I've seen it ... yesterday evening .... They were dropping it off for work to be done while they're on holiday for two weeks.
(Meant it was much closer for me to nip over and have a look than if it had been at their place.)
The rest of it looked pretty good I have to say.
BUT too much underseal on the front chassis corners to see those bits properly, so I'd assume the worst, especially given the theme running through the MOT history.
Glad I went though.
I'm not expecting the work to be done other than very superficially on that obvious bit.
They've had a deposit from someone else who then changed their minds, so pretty bullish on price.
It's been on for near enough £20k
Not the best prospect out there at the moment!

 

I think you have to set your expectations accordingly, no right hand drive UK bus will be as good, unless it's recently been thru a quality restoration, when compared to your dry-state left hooker.

£20k should get you a bus that is pretty close to perfect - I would want to see what standard of work they are carrying out now - not just a tart up

 

What not convert your existing Bus to right hand drive. This has probably been asked before and I missed it....
