  1. Where did you get that euromax carb from johnny and how much was it?

Looking round google they aint getting the best of reviews

  2. p.s i went volkspares due to price was cheapest i could find .....and he was local in leytonstone ....great shop and advice tho in there.......theres a guy on ebay in us of yanks that does totally refurbed solexpict34,s for under a 150 quid but with shipping and custom charges it comes to 200 odd quid

  3. the reviews i read were bad as well .......but seriously......i found the build quality really good compared to friends empi one ..........comes in a lovely box that makes out its german made looool ......you get a polystirine bits in the box and theres a lovely sticker on front sayin 34pict3 loooooool..........volkspares was only firm that had it in stock .....154 quid cash .........and if its fecked they will take returns and give you another.......im thinking of dis-connecting the choke as im not a fan unless it -10 loooool....only things that look cheap on it are the choke and fuel cut off switches, but they work .......the throttle arm is in line !!!!even came with a proper gasket unlike some ......been told not to touch empi ones ...rebuilt vw fest ones....also was told that the some of the orignal solex pict34,s dont like being rebuilt mate ,after 30 years of service they do wear out and need to be buried in back of shed ...plus them rebuild kits are Marmite ,i can make better out of cornflake boxes.......theres a usa rebuild kit that has everything in but cant find it on the net yet ...there supposed to be the nuts .......if u wanna go that way ....also theres a guy on ebay with weber progessive going cheap but its needs a rebuild .......webers are quite labour intensive to rebuild if i remember rightly from years ago and complicated ......

  8. :'( Chin up para, was really sad to hear this, but oh its the joys of owning a forty year old vehicle I guess! If we had one kicking around in the shed, you'd be more than welcome to it, unfortunately we don't but will keep our ears and eyes peeled for you! Good luck with getting it running again! ;)

  14. Cheers paul that would be great

I need one with nylon bushes for the throttle spindle as ive the brass bushes here to replace them with

The two carbs i have both have the steel bushes

  15. Ive backed the choke right off and it starts fine now
Ive driven about 8 miles in her no problem brought it home and left it to stand for 15 mins and it restarts no problem
So the choke was flooding the engine i suspect

The idles crap though as its drawing air in through the worn bushes

  16. If you do end up getting a new carb, as has been said allready, avoid the EMPI ones, I bought a new one and was a bit flummoxed when I saw the made in China mark on it  and after fitting it found out the accelerator pump was not working, so took it back and got me 100 squidlys back, glad your running again dude 8)
