Problem is thou Dicky is that you need to keep up at the back and pay attention we've been going Parkrun for ages, my missus every week, she uses it for speed work in her triathlon training, she loves it, I love it once in a while for a jog, but people dreaming that it's not a money making business are just doing that, Dreaming, We would still go if they started charging,
Couple of questions: Is there an entrance fee for the miserabale sod competition? Is there a prize? Is it some made in Taiwan rubbish?
Youve mentioned it before but Tbh i wasnt sure where you were going with the argument or what you knew that i didnt. Or indeed whether you were just using it as a wind up. Just because you want, or feel the need to pay for something that should be free (in my opinion , i accept) it doesnt mean everyone else wants to. I dont do the park run but im happy to pay through my council tax etc. For the upkeep of my local parks.
I would imagine even now the head honchos at Park Run are consulting their legal reps to mount a challenge to this. Hope so anyway.
puuppy 6d a chips n a bit a crackling ont top with 2x aypenny pickallld unyunz sittin ont park bench n all
It's the thin end of the wedge - what happened to The Big Society vision the tories had! Soon kids football teams will be charged for training sessions held in parks - no pitch/goalpost use or changing room facilities - but just training on a patch of grass, dog walkers will be charged at peak walking times or per lap, and anything educational related conducted in a park should be chargeable to the schools concerned.
Yes I am a grumpy old git My point was this is a large organised event that is happening every week Any large weekly event is going to have a big impact on a small local park Rubbish Lots of extra cars Toilets Impact on the grounds The loss of the park for other users They had some one saying that they use to take there kids to the park to lean to ride there bikes but they can't now due to the 300 runners It looks to me it's just got to big and the frequency is to much for a small local park
In which case, shouldn't the council step up an support an event that encourages exercise and ensure the park is maintained suitably in light of this much needed desire to try and be a bit healthier. Many people are getting so unhealthy a popular event that gets folk of their fat asses and outside has to be a winner. We all pay so much in council tax, parking fees etc that, in my view, we get poor value from. I pay, band c council tax and this year it's £150 a month I think. It's quite a lot of money. Maintain the beautiful parka we have. All Bristol City Council seem to be able to come up with that cash is to close some roads once a month so crappy jugglers and crappy modern dance fools can prance around while the fat folks wander aimlessly eating overprice tofu burgers. I don't park run but think it is a good thing.
So the only time they can take their kids to learn to ride their bikes is when Park Run is on? That's gotta be one of the most laughable objections to Park Run I've read so far
Well what a bunch of miserable nimby arseholes. I cant believe that as a society we are such a bunch of selfish tossers.
Sorry mate, need the council tax to pay the inflation-proof final salary based pensions of all those chiefs that got promoted up a fixed scale year on year as of right.
A veritable conveyor belt of fixed increment promotion... I wish I'd been thick enough to work fo' council.
